So… this just happened. 😲 So very proud of our Flexport.org team.

.@aplusk & Mila Kunis were among the first to respond to our grief. They have already raised $35 million & are sending it to @flexport & @Airbnb to help 🇺🇦 refugees. Grateful for their support. Impressed by their determination. They inspire the world. #StandWithUkraine

Just last year, California completed four wildlife crossings with an average price tag of $16 million – and 37 more are in progress across the state at an average cost of $15 million. The Annenberg Wildlife Crossing is the most ambitious project of its kind in the world with a much larger scale – it does not represent the average cost of our work to build more wildlife connectivity.
Benji Backer@BenjiBacker

Colorado built this wildlife overpass last year for $15 million. It’ll pay for itself within five years from the avoided collisions. California spending $114 million on a failed wildlife overpass is absurd.

@opsecsmasher 1. They cost half that much. 2. An F-14 would cost $200 million in 2026 dollars. They were very much not invisible.

In the 1991 Persian Gulf war, the United States had 86 aircraft destroyed or damaged by enemy action. Of those, more than half (~51) were attrited within the first 20 days of the onset of the air war. (Gulf Airpower Survey, p. 61.)

@NavyStrang Didn't it take a direct hit and still land safe? That's pretty impressive

Once out of hundreds if not over a thousand sorties is pretty incredible. The odds will always eventually be in the enemy's favor. Allies lost aircraft almost daily against the Iraqis and weekly vs Serbia.
Nuclear Reactor Neutron@TheSatanKi9895

Doesn't change the fact that they detected, successfully locked (and maintained lock), and hit the F-35. Also, the F-35 doesn't seem to he maneuvering, so they managed to fool its "advanced" ECM and MAWS. A country which has been under sanctions for around of 50 years did that.

@NavyStrang 24 planes were downed in Iraq over 6 years - 4 per year. Iran downed one in under 3 weeks.

There are already cougars on both sides of the highway. The bridge connects two huge wildlife areas. The whole point of the bridge is that it will keep the cats OUT of populated areas.
Christopher F. Rufo ⚔️@christopherrufo

The craziest thing about Newsom's $100 million wildlife bridge is that it will allow cougars, an apex predator, direct access into a suburban neighborhood filled with pets, children, and the elderly. It's like the radical environmentalist version of The Purge.

The vessel OOCL SUNFLOWER encountered heavy weather en-route to Long Beach and suffered a container stack collapse. Flexport has begun notifying all customers with cargo on the ship to expect delays and inspect any containers that arrive for damaged goods.

@NavyStrang The important thing here is not whether a F35 was shot down, it was the fact that Iran's air defense was able to detect, track, lock onto and shoot and damage a F-35. This alone is a form of deterrence, forcing the US to continue using expensive standoff munitions

1. Keep in mind that explosions look much bigger in IR because they oversaturate the sensor. 2. It's not the explosion that does the damage it is the shrapnel so where the warhead fuzes in relation to the aircraft plays a big role. Size and type of warhead also matters. 3. The F-35 was designed to survive a hit and many, many aircraft of all types have been hit by missiles and made it back to base safely.
OSINTdefender@sentdefender

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has release a statement, accompanied by video footage, which claims to show the targeting of an American F-35A/B Lightning ll with a surface-to-air missile in the skies over Iran. This claim by the IRGC follows reports that a F-35 was damaged and forced to make an “emergency landing” at an air base in the Middle East due to hostile fire over Iran.

As for it cutting out right after the hit... I mean, yeah, of course it does; the Iranians are claiming it was a shoot down and showing the plane fly away sort of debunks that claim from them.

Ernest King famously allowed the Japanese to keep trading oil and lifted sanctions on them in the middle of the war.

@SureFireSearle It's designed to support the growth of the central valley. Connecting it to LA would be nice, but it isn't necessary as it would just compete with airlines.

@NavyStrang Im glad they are laying track, that being said - the distance from population centers to either terminus is so long - a 2 hour drive from LA - i honestly wonder if anyone will ever ride it.
