His backhand is stable enough to neutralize that heavy lefty spin, and he’s going to force Shelton into the physical longer rallies that Ben openly said he isn't ready for yet.  While the "Maroon Clay" in Houston is faster than the European dirt, it’s still clay. Shelton’s athleticism is world-class, but his timing on the slide and his patience in point construction are clearly still a work in progress this week. Tirante’s ability to use the court geometry and his heavy forehand to pull Ben out of position will be the deciding factor. If Ben’s first-serve percentage dips even slightly, he doesn't have the defensive rally tolerance to fall back on right now. I expect Tirante to exploit Shelton’s lack of rhythm by making every service game a war. Even if Ben tries to shorten points, Tirante's superior movement on the dirt will allow him to turn defense into offense. Backing the clay-court rhythm here feels like the right play. ❤️ if tailing
