Well this has been interesting to wake up to a post that took off. I didn’t say that FSD wasn’t a great technology, I simply said that some people don’t want it. I’m all for safety technology in cars and self driving tech specifically, can save a lot of lives. How quickly people adopt it and trust it is the big question.

It’s not hard to drive a car. Not everyone wants FSD.

One week from today is the one year anniversary of the Tesla Robotaxi launch. They started with 11 supervised cars in one city. Now they have 725 cars across Austin, Dallas, Houston, and Silicon Valley. The fleet grew 66x larger in less than one year. One year ago there were 0 unsupervised Robotaxis. Now there are 69. The launch of unsupervised Robotaxis using just pure vision is a historic achievement. Still lots of work to go, and demand is still way higher than the current fleet can supply. But kudos to the Tesla team for a great start. If they were to grow the fleet 66x again over the next year, they would have 48,000 cars. For context Waymo has about 3,000 vehicles.

@pbeisel The only real question in the near-term, what will double first? Elon stating 1T revenue by 2030 for SpaceX and zero commentary on Tesla is off putting to me. Im not selling Tesla but come on Elon, show some love and get-it-done on Tesla.

To pay 3% in real money he has to dump tens of billions in shares EVERY YEAAR, which drops the price of the stock for EVERYONE. Tesla sits in the S&P 500. Which means it sits in your index fund. Your 401(k). The teacher's pension. The firefighter's retirement. The savings of every working person who never made a dime off Elon Musk and never asked to. And it's worse, because the tax eats itself EVERY YEAR!!! Every share he dumps to pay that tax, he owes capital gains tax on. So he sells more to cover that. Then more next year, off a base you just shrank. You don't collect a clean $33 billion. You collect less and less while doing more and MORE damage on the way down. Wealth taxes are the single stupidest idea ever.
