@GrayConnolly It's a beautiful poignant message and I can tell few watched it all the way through. She quotes Christ on the cross, Why have you forsaken me. She ends up in the right place. May God continue to be with her and her mother and all her family.

@realDrewMullins @AriFleischer @MarioNawfal @MalcolmNance I never served either in the military or intel so I try to stay in my lane, but I've been cringing nonstop at accounts like this whose chief purpose seems to be showing how smart or connected they are, at no risk to themselves but lethal risk to others

@AriFleischer No. Those of us who actually did things like this know you keep your mouth shut when you know things ARE true and equally important when you know they ARE not. He's in the same category of internet grifter as @marionawfal, and @MalcolmNance

@davidclowery I use Martin Lifespan 2.0 treated phosphor bronze, but the good news is I'm way too bad a player for string choice to matter...

Since we’re discussing how to string an acoustic guitar. Let’s talk string type. Don’t use phosphor bronze strings. Use plain bronze. There’s some kind of “sugar high” top end on those strings that may sound superficially good, but ends up being problematic when you put a mic on it.

"Don't get me wrong, fellows. I don't mind being called a pr*ck or a c*cks*cker or things like that. I expect that. But lay off the personal stuff." Babe Ruth to the New York Giants in their clubhouse, during the 1921 World Series after a game in which Giants infielder Johnny Rawlings directed a racial slur against Ruth! Babe Ruth was a longtime advocate of integrating baseball. Ruth didn’t just play; he actively engaged with black players, sitting with them in dugouts, socializing before and after games, and mingling in segregated stands. Babe Ruth scheduled games in locations where interracial competition was not only against social norms, but also illegal.

@GregWAutry @HansMahncke And Santos Dumont, is it not relevant to the success of aviation? I do not speak only because I am Brazilian, but I think it is a mistake to ignore his achievements, I do not know if I do not know or had only forgotten.

The story behind the New York Times’ 1903 claim that human flight was between one and ten million years away is even worse than it looks. Once you understand the backstory, you realize that the New York Times story is not really about flight at all but about how elites and credentialed “experts” mistake their own failures for the boundaries of possibility. The New York Times did not dismiss the possibility of powered flight at random. There was a very specific reason behind it. At the time, America’s most prominent scientific authority, Smithsonian Secretary Samuel Langley, had been showered with large amounts of taxpayer funding to build an aircraft, the Langley Aerodrome. Despite all the money, institutional backing, and elite prestige, Langley and his team could not get it to fly, culminating in a series of very public failures, the last on December 8, 1903. So when the New York Times declared that flight was millions of years away, what it was really saying was that if the most credentialed and well-funded “experts” cannot do it, then it cannot be done. A mere nine days later, the elites’ proclamation of impossibility lay in ruins. Two totally unknown bicycle mechanics from Ohio achieved the first powered flight using improvised parts, a few hundred dollars of their own money, and sheer persistence. The story of flight is, at its core, a story of the triumph of American individualism over elite credentialism. The fact that it was the New York Times that inadvertently delivered the proof is the most fitting conclusion imaginable.

@BuzzPatterson I’ve been flying on airlines since before deregulation. Way better then. The level of service has declined to a point we are packed in like rats and charged for every little thing. Passengers today make it feel like greyhound bus travel.

Tips from an airline pilot: Don’t crowd the entrance at the gate. Board with your zone, otherwise it slows everything down. Likewise, when you get to your seat, move into your row to stow your bags. Again, it slows everything down if you don’t, especially for those sitting in the back. Don’t drink the water or coffee. The water tanks only get cleaned out occasionally. Bring your water and coffee onboard. The tones you hear are just the crew communicating with each other. Use your AirPods or headphones as much as you can. It’ll make the flight infinitely quieter. Exit rows can be a great seat with extra legroom but not all exit rows are created equal. The rows immediately adjacent to the emergency exits on most jets don’t recline. Turbulence is normal, expected, completely safe, and all aircraft are built for it. It’s not in any way, shape, or form, dangerous. It may be uncomfortable but that’s the worst that can happen. Aircraft malfunctions and emergencies happen from time to time. Trust me, the crews have been trained ad infinitum on it all. Over and over again. Bottom line, we want to get home to our families and friends too. Any questions? Pilots want to get home too….

Jesús fue el primer socialista porque predicó sobre la igualdad, luchó contra la codicia y criticó a los ricos. En cambio, Judas, egoísta y codicioso, fue el primer capitalista, al punto que vendió a Cristo por unas monedas de plata. #JesusDeNazareth

@2jtneel @kenthecowboy_ I tip every Uber ride I take, unless the service is exceptionally bad, and meanwhile Uber displays a tip option when the ride is done. At least in the US.

Had a 26 year old union organizer as a passenger the other day. After asking if it was okay if she sat in the seat directly behind me (yes?), she gushed about her work, and how so many of people's problems boil down to not making enough money. You may ask, did she tip? Well,

I really don’t like hearing non-Christians talk about Easter as if it’s some abstract allegory. It’d be better not to talk about it at all. Good Friday isn’t about sacrifice. It’s about Jesus’s sacrifice. God-made-flesh shed his blood on the cross for our sins, so that by grace through faith we could be forgiven and reconciled to God. Acts 4:12: “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

Today, on Good Friday, we mark a day of sacrifice. Some New Yorkers will abstain from eating; others will spend hours without speaking. Faith, the Bible tells us, is belief in the things unseen. That belief is what will guide so many of our neighbors in solemn reflection and reverence. I wish all those observing Good Friday a blessed day of peace.

Clark Gable adored Hattie McDaniel and nearly quit "Gone With the Wind" early in production when he discovered the set was segregated. He told the director that either they'd take down the "white" and "colored" signs, or they'd have no Rhett Butler.

Artemis launch footage feels like it was filmed and streamed on an ancient webcam. Rockets also look ancient. Boosters still disposable. Commentators aren’t adding context. SpaceX has ruined NASA launches I guess
