X is more important to freedom and the world then people really understand. It’s not just a newsfeed and information source that spreads knowledge. Or when combined with Starlink, any corner anytime. That’s all impressive …but only makes it sound like a modern CNN or something. X is a pursuit of truth tool. It’s actually Gutenberg level…due to exponential network effect information sharing. It’s Metcalfe’s Law come to life but for knowledge. And each person is a node that can communicate with others and it is two way. This dynamic allows for the truth to come out cause of this unique interaction. Each node makes the network of knowledge so powerful for transmitting the truth, nothing can compete with it due to the math and effects of it. And it refines the knowledge to ensure truth is shared. It’s why legacy media and leaders want to stop it. It stops all false narratives.

For those of us watching, it’s a true WTF is going on. It appears rather suddenly, accounts are trying to break up the 2024 Trump voting group intentionally. The small/medium accounts on X want to actually get the country back on the path. Voting, immigration, fraud, economy. That’s what we want. Instead we have a high school lunch room drama problem. And the people that should be focusing the team and leading are sabotaging. And you are correct it seems like it is intentional with how fast it started. And if we lose we are screwed.

We need a reunion of sorts where we lock all the podcast war people in a room with a mediator who won’t let anyone leave until everyone stops the TMZ soap opera BS. We’re powerful when we’re united (look at 2024) and weak when we’re divided. The current environment is untenable unless you want to live in a communist woke hellhole. I’m happy to moderate and hide the keys until everyone stops and gets back on the same page about saving our country from woke lunatics. Bonus @elonmusk could stream it on X but I’m keeping the door locked until there’s some kind of treaty to end this. Seriously though, what’s playing out is straight up evil at work to drive a stake in the heart of our movement to save this country from woke communists. We had (and maybe still have) a generational opportunity to save this country. Everyone needs to get it together and stop acting like this is a fun soap opera. It’s not. Go talk to people who’ve survived leftist regimes and ask how funny they find this ridiculous behavior. It’s not entertaining, it’s suicidal.

It’s glorious isn’t it. For us Gen X it pulls you in and won’t let you go. Match Game has a magnetism to it. Rayburn was very good. And the humor is actually fun and the innuendo is very smart. But OTA TV is great. No paralysis from 119,000 streaming options. We had WiFi go down hard cause a Lululemon liberal neighbor crashed her Range Rover into the fiber optic box after too many Chardonnays. OTA to the rescue. Match Game, Ted Knight sitcoms, James Garner, Sanford and Sons, Benson, Hart to Hart, Three Company, Taxi. It’s actually relaxing; you just sit down and watch.

The mister and I have been watching reruns of the Match Game from 1977 ... and man, Richard Dawson was the shit. Yes, we're at the point in our lives where we sit down after dinner and stream one or two episodes of an old gameshow every night. I'm not ashamed, lol. ;)

The math from audience size to audience interest to cost/revenue to venue/location will never work again. Life has moved on. For us Gen X folks it stinks, but it happens. Remember movie houses use to have fancy lobbies and advertising their status in the 60s… That gave way to the multipleplex or commodified screens…as they would chop a theater into smaller screens. You look at the ads for some of state of art places opened after ww2…it was glamorous and large and another world. By the 90s it was 18 screens. A dead cat bounce happened with stadium seating and corn dog nuggets but it was the end. This trend was known about for years.

Hollywood's creative collapse isn't just the internet shift or "woke slop" and endless sequels. It's basic finance + massive marketing bloat. No exec gets fired for greenlighting the next MARVEL movie. It's pre-sold IP with built-in fans. But greenlight the next Hangover? If it flops, you're toast.
John LeFevre@JohnLeFevre

My kids are 11 and 12. I know this from direct experience, and also asking all their friends: - no interest in movie theaters - no interest in movies at home - no interest in TV shows Hollywood is dead.

One of the puzzles I find myself mulling over -- too often -- is the question of why artistic genius springs up in geographic clusters rather than in some broad, roughly predictable way. So many great musical talents from Seattle all at once? Whatever may be behind this phenomenon, it doesn't seem to operate with AIs, whose outputs don't arrive in this irregular, qualitatively "lumpy" fashion.

New from me: Up to 1.5 million 'American' children are being raised in China thanks to birth tourism and a grotesque interpretation of the 14th Amendment. This decade, many of those kids reach voting age. nypost.com/2026/03/19/us-…

Damn I am hearing every older male relative make comments in my head using various euphemisms of the time. My son picked up from a much much older relative the term “broad in the beam” when younger. He used it in class, his teacher didn’t approve, he said it was ok…his grand uncle was in the Navy.

And that would imply Canada actually has something that could help. A week ago you were begging migrants to come to Canada and they could be part of the military. We have flotillas of kayaks at mall sporting goods stores that have a larger naval presence. You don’t have a real navy anymore. You let America defend you.

@hubermanlab @theNOBSdentist The good ones are very hard to find, are older and wanting out. The barrier to entry is huge but if somebody was to figure out a way to have a clinic that isn’t the scolding, lecturing, egotistical “I know more then you” but let’s figure this out…the public would go for it.

I think it is also a value prop thing. Crap food is expensive. A diabetic drink and crap microwaved sandwich is $22 all in. Slop bowls have less protein for $15 Most restaurants are just heated and gussied up food service catalog items served with disdain and contempt from a server… let’s go pay $150 for two of what is essentially domestic airline food. But Mexican place in a non trendy part of town, huge ribeye with 4 fried eggs and peppers and onions and a sauce. $25…that’s a bargain. The market will sort itself on this fortunately or unfortunately

Wait till they get older. We have a few older boys in college and they and their friends will actually watch old movies and old tv shows. In fact they got a cheap large flat screen just for movies. But the common thread…they were busy as kids and parents didn’t let them have phones and needlessly scroll…and parents forced them to interact with people. But yes some kids can’t handle it. And Hollywood isn’t coming back ever again in the old form.

As soon as you realize the left only cares about themselves. It makes everything easier to understand. Be it wanting power, graft, ego, enemies punished, etc. They are Godless and operate differently. One side operates with how can I help…the other operates with how can I help myself. It isn’t about policy anymore. What did it for me years ago, non profit actually helping people. A new NGO sprung up in the area…sort of took over this area. We tried to say, you aren’t helping people with this approach it has never worked etc etc. Politicians came to the aid of the NGO and all funds went to the this new NGO. All the small local profits had funding moved to the new consolidated NGO. Nobody cared, loyal voters pushed aside, people actually affected and everyone told to shut up.

Did something happen that made all the large established accounts go bat sh*t crazy? I know once you get to a certain size it is a “business” and that means the clout/cash/engagement crap. I know they also sell various things. But they are turning into the useless Fox News evening folks that never got crap done but are good at hooking older people to watch. All the better takes come from small and medium accounts.

This is sort of a big deal. I don’t know if it is a few big voices need to get though to say politely …this isn’t the way. Or a number of mid size folks need to speak in unison and get the ball on X rolling and then in front of people…. that this is bad and why…and find a champion (like Scott P does) to drive the message and get it stopped. This is the EU approach to stopping X as well, and let’s face it Grok/X the entire Elon ecosystem freaks the left out cause of truth. The other thing is even tech execs don’t even understand what “AI” currently means or means in the future. So along with “experts” they become who the politicians “trust”. (Safety, energy, job, stick a stake through it!). But Utah is the canary in the mine.

Yea I don’t know. I am close to them for a number of reasons. They always have had ups and down and niches. They were a very premium product at one point. iPod could get a nice premium over other MP3 players. The phone had over 15 years of raw dominance. You are correct, nothing is a major wow. Some minor that’s neat stuff. But the school pathway is different. Some schools don’t let kids use Apple products at school and you need to use chromebooks. Chromebook’s are commodities. There are some cashflow things with it as well. And I wonder if this is a way to tap into that ecosystem. And all know that it isn’t the hardware, it’s the total lifetime revenue stream from the device.

Apple selling cheap laptops means it’s giving up on being an aspirational brand. Means it’s run out of ideas - which has been obvious for a while with the goggles and the thicker phones and iPads. It’s like if Mercedes entered the compact truck market.
