For immediate release. The Austin Police Retired Officers Association (APROA) has long stood with the 19 officers who were wrongly indicted following the 2020 protests in Austin. In the sweltering days of those May protests, Austin Police officers, some now APROA members, rallied around ardent crowds to protect their right to peaceably assemble. Many protestors did, but others chose to agitate, to threaten officers, to dox them, and to assault them for no other reason than because of their profession. Following their example, Jose Garza has seized every potential opportunity to prosecute law enforcement personnel during his tenure as the Travis County District Attorney. Mr. Garza’s ambition, fueled by political will rather than application of the law, is on full display in the legal motion filed today by Doug O’Connell, attorney for Austin Police Officer Chance Bretches.   Jose Garza’s habitual misconduct and his lack of prosecutorial experience puts our entire community at risk. Felony cases, when properly handled, present opportunities for the innocent to be absolved of serious allegations, for the guilty to be held accountable and for the residents of Travis County to have confidence in the judicial system. In order for these principles to be upheld, Travis County needs a new district attorney. It is for that reason that the APROA is calling for Jose Garza to resign immediately. For questions about the APROA’s position on this matter, please email APROA President Dennis Farris at APROAPrez@gmail.com or call 512-944-3148. @APROA01 @DouglasOConnell @ATXPOA @FoxNews @statesman @cbsaustin @fox7austin @KVUE @KXAN_News

🚨Inside Communist-Controlled Cuba: As Cuba faces its largest humanitarian crisis in years amid growing tensions with the US, I went to see what 60+ years of communism has done to a country. Within 24 hours I was planning my escape out of the country after being followed by their intelligence agents, and a 2 star general waited to interrogate me outside my hotel room at 4 AM. Right now Cuba has no oil or gas, 7/10 people are going hungry, there is no medicine and some haven't even had eggs in a year. In communism there is no freedom of speech or press, and I was almost taken hostage for asking about communism. This is a look into Cuba like never before, no one truly knows how bad it is until now. Like and share this video like wildfire!

AUSTIN MAN murders his parents and brother inside their home Thursday morning -- just months after prosecutors dismissed his weapons charge. Travis County prosecutors had Joshua Dahan in custody twice before. They let him go both times. March 2024: Police respond to a reckless driver call and finds Dahan unconscious in his Mercedes. The car reeks of marijuana. A Glock 23 sits in plain view on the front passenger seat. He admits the gun and weed is his. - Charge: Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon - Outcome: DISMISSED, July 2025. July 2024: Arrested again, this time on a felony drug charge -- while the gun case was still pending. - Outcome: DA REJECTED. No charges filed. So nine months after the weapons charge was dismissed, he murders his family.

Austin just made it harder to use tech to catch criminals. Austin ran a one-year license plate reader trial that was, according to an auditor, successful because it led to the arrests of and prosecutions of hundreds of criminals and led to no unjustified police stops. Despite -- or perhaps BECAUSE OF -- the success of the program, migrant advocacy groups lobbied hard against these tools and city council ended the contract last June. Now city council went further and put in place a byzantine and highly restrictive approval processes before any department can deploy plate readers, drones, or other surveillance tools. The data collected may also be less relevant due to strict retention restrictions. Other cities are moving the opposite direction and having good results. For example, SF is now deploying hundreds of more plate readers and drones and crime is now at half of its 2023 level, far outpacing the general national decline in crime. Similarly with Dallas. Besides making it harder to catch criminals, there's an unintended consequence of Austin's anti-tech move. Plate readers are narrowly scoped because they, for instance, flag a vehicle against a hot list and ignore everything else. Without them, the work falls back to humans: officers tailing suspects, reviewing more records by hand, looking over hours of footage of cameras all over the city frame by frame. This is not only slower and less precise, but it's arguably more invasive than police relying on an AI camera.

BREAKING: Austin Justice can name the suspect arrested last night above Ben White Boulevard -- the man SWAT pulled off the South 1st overpass after he hurled rocks and bricks down onto lunchtime traffic, smashing four vehicles in the high-speed lanes below. His name is Travion Washington. He is 45. His prior record in Travis County runs 14 cases deep, including: - Arson of an occupied home - Attacked a child, elderly, or disabled person - Did it again - Assaulted a police officer - Tried to take that officer's gun - Ran from police twice Eight felonies in total. Every one reduced, dismissed, or never filed. Zero jury trials. Six months ago, prosecutors dismissed his most recent felony injury case after he finished pre-trial diversion. A year ago, officers found him walking fully nude down South 1st Street at 10:21 a.m., a block from an elementary school, gripping a 22-inch wooden stick. It took five officers to cuff him. He gave them a fake name. (Resisting -- dismissed. Failure to identify -- declined.) Thursday he came back to the same road, but this time with bricks. Thanks to @cost_of_bums for the tip.

UPDATE: Why did DA José Garza's office just let Frank Bonner walk on the murder of homeless woman Kelly Meazell? Here's what prosecutors got from police: - Kelly was shot in the neck at close range, with signs of being robbed after. - A nearby security camera caught a man running after Kelly, then jumping into a car and speeding off. - A tipster told police what happened: Bonner killed Kelly because she owed him drug money, then came home that night in bloody clothes, bagged them up, and took off. - Two days later, police got a 911 call from Bonner's apartment because a woman was being held at gunpoint. He ran before officers arrived. - Police searched the apartment and found a Nest camera in his living room recording the night Kelly was killed. Six minutes after the shooting, Bonner walks in, strips off his bloody clothes, and stuffs them into a kitchen trash bag. He tells the woman with him to power off her phone then washes his hands. He tells her to mop the floor, and then says, on his own camera, out loud: "Homicide will be in this hoe, right." Then he tells her to misdirect police about his timing and whereabouts. Garza's office reviewed all of this and rejected the murder charge two weeks ago -- after years of dropping Bonner's prior cases for aggravated robbery, drug felonies, evading arrest, tampering with evidence, contraband in jail, and felon-with-firearm. Bonner's pending aggravated assault case was also dismissed in the meantime. This was a separate shooting where he put three bullets in a man's leg over a crack baggie. The reason given was that the victim wouldn't testify. But prosecutors don't need a cooperative victim to pursue a man who shot someone in broad daylight -- not with shell casings, surveillance, 911 audio, medical records, and a record a mile long. They chose not to fight that one either. So after a trail of victims, including a dead homeless woman, Frank Bonner is back on Austin's streets.

AUSTIN MAN shot a homeless woman in an East Austin parking lot last year. But the DA just let him walk. Frank Bonner was arrested January 2025 for the murder of Kelly Meazell, who was found in a pool of blood on Manor Road, after Bonner apparently beat her up and shot her. The murder bond was $1 million. Before Bonner killed her, he was charged 33 times in Travis County, including: • 3 aggravated robberies - all dismissed • Multiple drug felonies (cocaine, meth) - dismissed • Criminal mischief $30K-$150K, evading w/ vehicle, tampering with evidence - dismissed • Contraband in a correctional facility - declined • Possession of firearm as felon - declined Then Kelly was murdered. What happened next: • April 2025: DA rejects the murder charge. No charges filed. • March 2026: His pending aggravated assault with a deadly weapon from October 2024 is dismissed. With no trial or convictions, Bonner is back on the street, while Kelly Meazell is still dead and her family is still grieving.

Waymo called Austin 911 almost 100 times for people passed out in their vehicles. Councilman Siegel is asking about prosecuting Waymo for False 911 reports for this but is it False? If someone died in the back of a waymo and they saw and didnt call 911, it would be bad!

As you go to work today and settle into the week, please study the form below. You will soon need to fill this out EVERY year and tell the government what you own and then allow them to tell you how much its worth. That is the framework that is enabled by the Trojan Horse "Billionaire Tax" that is trying to get passed. Give them credit: they cleverly use Billionaires as the hook, but build in the language and the framework that will allow the Legislature to simply extend the tax to everyone and make it yearly. And this is where the form below comes in... In this case, ask yourself, will it be you or the Billionaires that will be able to fill this out properly and avoid penalties. As much as Billionaires can be pushed to do more for society, we all know that they have the infrastructure to manage these kinds of disclosures...middle class Californians do not and they will be the ones that get penalized in the end.

Bill Maher asks how the government is “failing the poor so badly” when he pays “60 PERCENT” of his earnings in taxes. “Last week was tax day… I paid the government probably almost 60% of what I earn. That’s a lot.” “And I… wouldn’t mind if Bernie Sanders would stop saying the rich don’t pay taxes.” “The top 10% pay 72% of all federal income taxes. And the bottom half, 3%.” “The Democratic Socialists talk about socialism like we don’t already have a lot: Social Security, unemployment, Medicare, nutritional assistance, Medicaid, Obamacare, disability, housing subsidies.” “How can you be soaking the rich and failing the poor so badly? How can it be that the federal government alone took in over 5 trillion in taxes last year, and we still need that?” “Are we really this incompetent and corrupt?”

The Billionaire Tax is actually an Everyone Tax. The Billionaire Tax is a new tax proposal written by four professors who don't believe in the American dream. Some of them aren’t even American…go figure. Despite its name, it applies to every California resident who currently has assets or ever will. The creators named it the Billionaire Tax so you would get into a froth andwouldn't look closely at what it actually does to you. On page twenty-six, it explains how the government can convert to an Everyone Tax without voter approval. They can also adjust the tax to be a yearly tax, not just one time…again, without your approval. Here's how the tax would work: As a voter, you're being asked to approve a tax that would require you to: 1. list all your assets and the value of each, then submit them to the California Franchise Tax Board. 2. authorize the tax board to appraise your assets and confirm the value of each. 3. pay a penalty of up to forty percent of your tax bill if the board determines your reported value was too low in their opinion. 4. allow the tax board to subpoena your financial records from every one of your financial institutions for auditing. This Everyone Tax runs 34 pages of shifty language describing how the government plans to take your assets. Read the fine print and decide for yourself. If this were truly a billionaire tax, it would be 3 pages. It’s 34 pages so that it can create the mechanisms to steal from all of you.
