The division between the North and the South had little to nothing to do with slavery. Only 1.6% of the population owned slaves, and many, many, in the north owned slaves illegally. They teach this by the time you reach 6th grade, so what does that say about you? If you're not a scholar, why do you chime in on these conversations? Do you tell your doctor how to perform surgery on you as well? Is that how big your pride is?
