@HillCalder @jayegge @KyleTheige Lower cap numbers, minutes for TSJ and staying out of the second apron made them a worse team than the last year KAT was here. As a fan I wish the goal was to keep getting better, not worry about the bottom line as they jack up ticket prices.

@SteveG_MN @jayegge @KyleTheige Randle extension lowered his cap. Rob trade is fair to be skeptical about. He let NAW walk because TSJ wouldn't have had minutes otherwise. KAT trade kept us out of the 2nd apron.

@AJ23245 Idk man, he looked terrible during the NCAA tournament, couldn’t get any separation and self create any looks. I’ve seen some crazy comparisons, I think he might be AJ Green.

@HillCalder @jayegge @KyleTheige You don’t think he’s earned some skepticism on his moves the last couple of years? Randle extension? Rob trade? NAW walking? KAT trade? All of those moves look bad in hindsight. He’s paid millions to make great bball decisions. I’m not smarter than him and I’m not paid to be.

@realmattwith @ChristopherHine I agree, Ayo could have signed anywhere he wanted as an UFA. I never said that he couldn’t, I was saying Wolves didn’t need to clear room because with his bird rights they could have offered that same contract with Julius still on the team.

One aspect of the Julius Randle trade ... this clears room for the Wolves to re-sign Ayo Dosunmu, whose new deal with the team will likely be done soon.

@mdotbrown Is keeping same efficiency metrics while taking a slight step back on defense “taking a leap”? I would argue they want to alter his role more than expect him to morph into a different player. Get another POA defender to reduce his responsibility on D and increase shot attempts.

Jaden McDaniels really might improve with the increased responsibility. Here’s a list of players who took the Year 7 leap:

@TwolvesBlog Agreed, patience for next move or two but looks rough. IF they were going to get off older players contracts and see what they have in the young guys, why not last year when they had their draft pick? This feels very reactive and myopic.

Again: have to think big picture. “Running it back” was doomed from the start, yet Randle was re-signed. future unprotected for Rob, dump Rob and more stuff to get an ok player they have to pay big $ immediately, have to dump a maligned but productive player to do it, blah blah

@jbrenner01 @CharlieWaltonMN “Definitely” - I think you’re right, I also think it could lock them into an overpay, Ayo’s camp was just gifted a massive amount of leverage, no matter the contract they’ll be forced to match.

Dumping Randle's salary is the second of such moves Tim Connelly has made (did it at the trade deadline by sending Mike Conley to the Bulls, which put the Wolves under the first apron). Wolves now — with nine players under contract for next season — are roughly $44 million below the luxury tax, $52 million below the first apron, and $65 millon below the second apron. Flexibility in the tax apron era. That is a great thing.

@DftBMerritta @SteveG_MN Yeah. The potential positional value benefit you get (5+ points) is worth it imo. But would have to be a very good team of course. In a startup, that’s a 4th, 8th and future 1st for (IMO) a top 5 pick. Pretty reasonable

Most trade offers I get, it’s like the person constructs a somewhat reasonable trade offer, but where they still clearly win… then just adds a first. People are so afraid to lose trades, they don’t even send offers that merit a counter.

@JonKrawczynski It also quotes you as saying there will be “significant roster changes” this summer. Is that accurate or also out of context? I’ll listed to podcast but just for clarification on here.

Not sure why a podcast from 10 days ago is getting aggregated today but here we are. 1. I said a Kyrie trade was more likely than Giannis only because of the mechanics involved in trading for either player. There has been no indication, ever, that a Kyrie deal was close.

@jpeiters @JaceFrederick Goaltend on Kornet, Offensive goaltend on Wemby, Wemby loses out of bounds and Spurs ball, Wemby two hand push on every screen…seems like the refs aren’t pulling for Knicks too much.

@JaceFrederick Some borderline foul calls on KAT early may have swung game, but other than that the refs are totally favoring the Knicks. (Falling for the Brunson flops)

Watched the half off Twitter (highly recommend) Open app, see like 20 tweets about how it’s rigged for the spurs In a 27 point game In which the free throw disparity is 23-6 Knicks ( I know, I know, total DOESNT TELL THE STORY) Seems like it’s “refs” every game for folks

@JakePaynting Lamelo-lite. Best thing for Wolves is if they find someone to get the best out of all their finishers offensively.

@JakePaynting Idk it might be take De Larrea at 28 or miss out on him. If they don’t trade 28 with other assets for a win now move, De Larrea is a fun fit with the younger pieces.

I expect the Wolves to trade pick 28 but breaking that into two 2nd rounders and taking a combination of De Larrea, Saunders, Conwell, Copeland, Thornton would be a good way to restock some of youth coffers for cheap.
