The kids are in the basement, terrified, dont know what to do, and are trapped The mother is upstairs in the bedroom, fully aware of what to do, with multiple ways out (door, windows, etc) Gee, what a tough question?! I guess the only decent answer is to save the KIDS!
︎ ︎venom@venom1s

She asked if there's a house fire, would you save the wife or three kids? He replied - Kids. She got angry and said, you can't have sex with kids. Why don't modern women think beyond sex? Who would you save?

A lot of the problems in the world right now can be explained by this video. For one thing, it’s a big reason why the US government is so unaccountable to public opinion. These are *college students.* A significant amount of the country is totally checked out and comfortable enough not to think it matters.

@BowTiedYukon It is possible to have *a* drink an not get drunk, thereby not making alcohol something illicit and forbidden. This is a really weird take. You are not either teetotal or shit faced drunk. There is an in eteeen.

I remember two colleagues that decided to break the rules and have a sexual relationship. It started with going on break together and then acting like a couple at work functions. It was all rosy and even though many of us were against it we had to stop worrying about them because

@TimothyEveland Deformation is the answer. Even if you made it light af, if it were as light as plate (assuming AP ammunition didn’t exist) the immense kinetic load from modern ammunition would lead to the inside of the armour deforming and killing the wearer.

The honest answer is no for most Not because they can't handle the logistics But because they're terrified of being alone with themselves That's why they need constant company That's why they doom scroll That's why they jump from relationship to relationship Solo travel exposes all of it

The US no longer needs the Hormuz Strait Donald Trump stated that the United States is not interested in the Hormuz Strait because it is needed by others. “We have already defeated Iran. We do not need this strait; we do not use it,” he said. According to him, the strait will "open by itself" over time, and its importance is greater for Europe, South Korea, Japan, and China.

@SprinterPress Trump's got a good point . the US has offered and asked for help opening the Strait . no one will step up . . so why should the US go it alone ? . Americans don't need the Strait of Hormuz for anything .

He didn’t. He saw that the only way to avert the total destruction of the human race was to subsume it as a living god, contain it so that resentment built up to a level which then meant that humanity wanted to break out of its gilded cage, and breed in a line of ‘bulls’ who couldn’t be predicted by presience like his own. He literally knew he had to become the monster that humanity had to defeat in order to disperse again. But he couldn’t do it. So Leto did instead.

You want the REALLY fun take on this new Dune discourse? Paul did not engage in any "cultural appropriation". The fremen culture had been deliberately engineered for generations to welcome someone like him as a savior. He was literally doing what their culture demanded of him

@floridajim611 @Albrochier Because you had consideration before? Is this before or after you threatened a European country with invasion, or the tariff wars, or denigrating the war dead from the time you invoked article 5?

The seething about "cultural appropriation" and "colonialism" with regard to Dune comes off as the pettiest thing ever. A European, especially from a nation whose culture is not well known abroad, would be like, "They used our stuff as inspiration? Hell yeah!" You don't see Polish people losing their minds over the Witcher books and games. Although I suspect it's mostly Western leftists who complain about Herbert and the movies.

@SCShipyards At what point did Paul have a choice other than die or worse? Furthermore at every opportunity he fought against what he saw as his dark fate. It was only when they killed his son did he give in to that fate.
