I think the only option is overpaying for vets in free agency on 1 year or 2 year contracts (fine for a rebuilding team), retaining half and flipping them at deadlines and drafts.
For example, if the Canucks can find the next Suter, Joshua or Sherwood, and actually strike while the iron is hot, they'll put themselves in a great position.
If they refuse to be creative, they'll never dig themselves out of this hole.
Why? Because Pro Sports constantly requires management groups to innovate and be creative, something I have failed to see from this group.
