I think Rainn Wilson is probably right about The Office being hard to make in the modern day. A lot of the Michael Scott gags fall into the 'character is comically inappropriate in a way that you're supposed to cringe at' which got called out in the 2010s.

Video games are a male hobby, the difference is men are fine with you being in their hobby as long as you're not annoying. It's sort of like how make up is a predominantly female hobby/industry.
