@actromantic Do you use heaters? That's worse for the climate than AC. My wind and solar powered AC is probably better for the environment (and certainly better for society) than a German's russian-gas powered heat

"just get AC" meanwhile California is on fire every year and people are losing their homes. At what point do you stop suggesting europeans to get AC and rather do something against climate change

@rohitshinde121 Not just that. It's an island country. Way too much humidity. 30-40 degrees in humid region is worst than 40-50 in dry region.

Temperature is not the only way to look at these things. If peak temperature is 45 degrees, but in the night it cools down to 20 degrees, it is bearable. If you look at the latitudes of the European countries, most of them are situated north of mainland US. That basically means 18 hour days in most parts of Europe. Now imagine 33-35 degrees for most of the day without nighttime relief. Nighttime temperatures don't get time to dip more than a few degrees. So you are getting a low intensity burn for a few days continuously! Northern Europe also experiences quite low Winter temperatures which necessitates home construction to at least trap some heat. That is obviously undesirable in summers.

It’s 34 degrees in London & Brits are burning; rail tracks melting, restaurants turning off fryers etc. As my wife asked : how did these wimps manage to rule super hot India for so long in their heavy uniforms & elaborate tailcoats? This is cooler than Indian summers

@nabeelqu What did really harm is people putting on their aircon needlessly fuelling climate change - if every person used resources like the americans we’d be fxxd a long time ago.

94F (34.4C) in London today, hotter than Texas, train, everyone on the verge of fainting, table of people nearby discussing how they’d love more air conditioning but it’s “just a shame it’d destroy the environment”. Environmentalist anti-growth memes really did a number on Europe

I stopped by the North Carolina booth at the "Great American State Fair" on the National Mall today. The state decided not to participate because of the high costs so the booth is sponsored by private orgs.

@gkmcahill @BoltsJolts @Salttown So these things are down to the half second or whatever. It's a bit retarded to compare that slight objectivity to the ref deciding when the entire game ends while the ball is in play in soccer

@gkmcahill @BoltsJolts @Salttown All of those are things the team can control. And when a throw away hits out of bounds is reviewable to the second. Forward progress is the only slightly arbitrary one but the ref isn't deciding the clock, the clock decision is based on the whistle which is based on play

BALD DEMON + UNETHICAL HOOPS EXORCISED REED
@e_oreo @BoltsJolts @Salttown the entire thing is arbitrary. when a guys knees down in college to stop the clock for a first down, when forward progress is stopped so a team is allowed to call a timeout, when a throw away hits out of bounds or really any incompletion. none of that is exact

@BoltsJolts The important thing is - in American football the teams control the clock. Everyone knows exactly why and when the clock is stopping or running. There can be no allegations of bias with clock management. In soccer it's just up to the ref, feeling out of control which sucks

@BoltsJolts It’s “caught on”. MLS has teams worth over $1B. Bigger average crowds than NBA or NHL. Soccer people got interested in MLS in mid 90s after MLS de~Americanized. We love all the bullshit.

@gkmcahill @BoltsJolts @Salttown The clock doesn't stop arbitrarily in American football. There's specifically designed rules for when the clock stops. This introduces deep strategy around clock management that a well coached team capitalizes on. The clock is controlled by the teams, not the ref making it up

@BoltsJolts @Salttown they stop matches on corners you just aren't watching footy like that. But sure every other sport where refs arbitrarily stop and start the clock whenever are so much better lol 60 min game for the ball to be live for 12 of them.

Was just listening to a podcast… 1984 average home cost $94,000 with average household income $63,000 2025 average home cost $514,000 With average household income $83,000 If that’s hard to swallow- add this to the chaos: 1984 only 1 adult brought in the income, in 2025 2 adults. More people need to ask why! Why and how did this happen

Jake Paul says he wants to play slot receiver in the NFL after boxing, starting at Stanford “I do have NFL aspirations after boxing. I want to play slot receiver, and so I think to get that experience, college first would be good so I could walk onto the Stanford team” “I'm being serious. I was originally thinking I'll just go straight to the Cleveland Browns or Dallas Cowboys, but they're probably going to want to see me play first” “So, it might be better if I start off in college and have a little bit of an advantage over the younger, not as big kids before going into the NFL”

For our knockout stage… fly an HBCU marching band to Santa Clara. Whiteout like Penn State. Play Neck. Come out to Enter Sandman in the first half and 2001/Sandstorm in the second half. Play Mo Bamba at the second half hydration break. College football it up. #USMNT

@Ahhhhh576697 @MK_Foxbat Plus, the US vaporized Middle Eastern conventional militaries in weeks like four different times, the casualties were mostly counter insurgency. Russia is still struggling with the conventional military, hasn't even gotten to occupying the entire place.

Not even a year before the Russian SMO launched, the US lost a 20 year long war. The US launched, and then lost its own SMO in February of this year. With all due respect (none) shut the fuck up. You have less than no room to talk.

Why do you guys have to be so annoying about everything? Brazil has won the World Cup 5 times, and even they don’t talk like this. You are playing well and have won a few games, just celebrate with your team and country normally like everyone else. My goodness.

@ECOuteSvp @anselm_io You Euros use Russian or American gas to heat your homes, which is very selfish when you could just use blankets. My AC is over 50% wind and solar powered.

My German parents religiously turn off LED lamps. I think their heads would explode if I told them that my American friends turn their AC to 65°F/18°C so they can snuggle on the sofa under a blanket *in summer*
