Running out of amount of reasons why ADS-B In needs to be mandatory on planes with ADS-B Out already required but here is another reason. Thankfully TCAS warned them but as we have learned TCAS isn’t reliable under 1000 feet. Let’s tighten these requirements in the ALERT with clear language with timelines on completion dates

Imagine sitting in an NTSB hearing and watching a similar recreation of these flight paths for an imminent collision. But your brother didn't make it home. Or your sister. Your father. Mother. YOUR loved one. I know what it's like, and no one should know that feeling.
Doug Lane@dlane

TCAS Resolution Advisories save the day again. But until ADS-B In with aural alerting and cockpit display of traffic information is required, there is no last line of defense under 1,000 feet AGL for situations like Flight 5342.

Local Nashville media are reporting that WN507 was directed to turn right during a go-around putting it in the path of departing WN1152 on Saturday. ADS-B data shows the two jets passed 500 ft apart vertically. flightradar24.com/multiview/2026…

This is huge news. The @famofflight5342 know that the failures of January 29th did not originate in the control tower alone. The breakdowns were imminent, and unfortunately, our loved ones were the casualties. We keep moving forward. #SaferSkiesForAll #AA5342

@SecDuffy and @FAA_Bryan - Strong momentum on controller hiring—this is a meaningful step forward. We appreciate the focus from @SecDuffy and the @FAANews on rebuilding the workforce. As this work continues, it’s essential that staffing gains are paired with modernized technology, enforceable timelines, and full implementation of the @NTSB recommendations. Safety is a system. Every piece matters. #SaferSkiesForAll #AA5342

The tragedy of 67 lives lost at DCA on January 29, 2025, and recent mid-air close calls make it clear that now is the time for Congress to enact the strongest possible pro-safety legislation to protect our nation's airspace. We owe it to these families to get this right.
Air Line Pilots Association@ALPAPilots

The U.S. House has passed the ALERT Act — the legislation now heads to conference, and we're calling on Congress to include the Senate ROTOR Act provisions requiring integrated ADS-B In for all airline aircraft. Without it, a safety gap remains. More ➡️ bit.ly/4cNqLDp

Not only the @famofflight5342 but also we need this right for the pilots. These are the people we should be listening too. The ones that have the responsibility to get our families and friends to their destinations safely.

I want to extend our sincere gratitude to @RepSamGraves and @RepRickLarsen for their leadership on #aviation #safety and for working with us on the ALERT Act. For the first time in history, Congress is advancing legislation that comprehensively addresses all @NTSB recommendations issued following a major aviation disaster. This unprecedented, bipartisan commitment from both the Senate, led by @SenTedCruz and @SenatorCantwell, and the House underscores a shared determination to ensure such a tragedy never occurs again and to safeguard lives across the National Airspace System. We stand ready to support @SenateCommerce, @commercedems, @TransportGOP, and @TransportDems as they deliberate on the ROTOR and ALERT Acts and work to deliver a final bill to the President for consideration. On January 27, 2026, we adopted 50 safety recommendations which, once fully implemented, will save lives. To prevent another midair collision, it is imperative that the final legislation include the best of both bills and all 50 recommendations in their entirety. As I have long emphasized, NTSB investigations represent only the first step toward progress. True safety change comes through the full implementation of our safety recommendations. Seventeen years after the Colgan accident, many remain unfulfilled—a reality that is simply unacceptable.

I would love for @RepSamGraves or someone on his team to explain to me how, under the ALERT Act, a CRJ like the one my wife and son died on gets equipped with ACAS-Xa by 2031. It doesn’t. This bill was designed to fail.

"At its core, this legislation is about making our aviation system safer in a practical, straightforward and meaningful way." Watch Chairman @RepSamGraves speak on the House Floor in support of the ALERT Act.

My biggest fear with the ALERT Act as currently written is nothing substantial will happen for years and years. Amendments could have changed that. The only shot of that will be at conference now. This was one of @RepSamGraves last pieces of legislation before retirement and to me it’s a huge letdown
Craig Caplan@CraigCaplan

TUESDAY: House will consider its aviation safety ALERT Act legislation under suspension of the rules, with only 40 minutes for debate, no amendments allowed & a 2/3rds majority vote needed for passage. @cspan

The ALERT Act that passed through House committees makes progress to address the NTSB's recommendations. But our work is far from done. Any legislation that becomes law must include a strong ADS-B In mandate with enforceable deadlines. The Families of Flight 5342 deserve nothing less.

Whether you are for or against the Iran war, can you imagine how you would feel if the folks who flew a helicopter into your wife and son said adding ADS-B In to military aircraft would create “unresolved budgetary burdens” and then asked for this? I don’t need to imagine.

SCOOP: The Pentagon asked the White House today for more than *$200 billion* for the Iran war supplemental, sources say Some White House aides think Congress won't support b/c it's so big Will tee up giant battle in Congress

NEWS: Sec. Duffy and FAA Administrator Bedford announce new safety measures around busy airports that mandates air traffic controllers use radar instead of visual separation measures to keep planes and helicopters separated. "The tragedy over the Potomac one year ago revealed a startling truth: years of warning signs were missed, and the FAA needed dire reform. Since then, we’ve implemented numerous changes to protect the skies over our capital and keep the traveling public safe" -- @SecDuffy

@RepSamGraves this is my younger brother. He is why I push so hard for the ALERT Act to be a good bill that we can support. He is why I spend so much time in DC fighting. I just wish Congress would fight half as hard as the family members fight @famofflight5342
