@AbsMcFabs The data protection thing is about our old friend 'less than five' - numbers that small have the potential to actually ID someone, so they are routinely not released but given an asterisk - the number of prisoners total with a GRC used to be under such an asterisk, but are now 5+

@esjayXX While there is something to that, it is still fair to compare cohorts incarcerated for serious sex offences.

This is not like for like. Women imprisoned for sex offences are there for assisting a man, such as procuring victims or taking photos. Another group are inciting sexual behaviour between children. Estimated 10-20 cases per yr actual abuse of own children or in nurseries.

The intention is laudible. The method is absolutely wrong. Because that logic would extend to any non-playing member of staff, and to any men's club. It would probably do for any female referees in the men's game as well.

My initial tweet was actually awry for that reason, as the 96 number I referred to for women offenders...

@latsot My instinct here is this is one with the tendency of the classic professions - Medicine, Law, Church - to defend zealously their gatekeeping role for that profession, that they - and they alone - decide who is recognised as fit to practice - it, of course, leads to ludicrousness.

We've seen lots of these cases. Doctors convicted of abusing children who then go to a tribunal which decides whether they should be allowed to practice medicine again. WHY would a medical tribunal be required for a doctor convicted of child abuse? WHY would there be any possibility of his ever being employed ever again? @AbsMcFabs Someone has kindly rounded up the stats - they are from March 2024, and showed a slightly higher number of women sex offenders in prison, around 124, from the HMP statistical quarterly, but FOI showed at the same time the number of transwomen w/out GRC there was 151...

@WalkAlanWalk @WingsScotland There are now more encarcerated transwomen sex offenders than women sex offenders in the UK. Not per capita, actually more as a hard number. From a supposed population of 49,000 (ONS Census), as opposed to 30 million women, there are around 150 transwomen, to just under 100 women

This is the grown-up version of being plied with cider at a party, shoved into a cupboard with a boy - then being told you’re frigid if you don’t do what he wants. Only now, frigid has been replaced with bigot.
