I have opinions. You are required to agree with them.

A lot of folks talk about "escaping the permanent underclass". If AGI pans out, the future class divide won't be based on wealth, but on cognitive agency. There will be a "focus class" (those who control their attention and actually do things) and a "slop class" (those whose reward loops are fully RL-managed by AI)

Having been in San Francisco the last few days talking to people, I'm radically updating my odds for an imminent (next year) AI-enabled cyber disaster.

Hot take: A £40K salary in Birmingham will give you a better quality of life than a £60k salary in London. Run the numbers. I’ll wait.

The cost of your flight went up because you searched for it twice. Your rideshare costs more because your phone battery is dying. This is surveillance pricing – corporations using your own data and behaviors against you. In the US Senate, I’ve got a plan to ban it.

One underrated reason AI people are ok with existential risk: They think AI will make people immortal.

where the fuck are all of the GPUs going?!? i need literally one 8xH100 node and i cannot for the life of me get one ANYWHERE

I'm going to again pitch the idea thatt Rowling's wizarding world has SO MANY INTERESTING PLACES TO SET STORIES. WE DON'T NEED HOGWARTS. Look - imagine a series set in Durmstrang, an school in which the headmaster literally was a Death Eater and was murdered for betraying the cult. The adventures would be fabulous. Also bear in mind that they need to be constantly bedeviled and enchanted by the wicked witches of Beauxbatons. I know in the books Durmstrang & Beauxbatons aren't all-boy or all-girl but it could make the series super interesting particularly because all the school dances and festivals they'd have to mix, and the general separation would lead to the teenagers being even more socially clumsy than the idiots at Hogwarts which would be hilarious.

If you have the basic skills to participate in the discourse at all — like you can read and comprehend a New York Times article in order to complain about it — you’re in a weird, out of touch, elite bubble. slowboring.com/p/in-defense-o…
