Remember when the Liberals told us EVs were going to “ruin the weekend”? A friend of mine just posted on a chat that filling up 💸 💸 her tiny petrol car last night ruined her weekend 🥺

@BernardKeane @marklevy2gb Hastie is the only bloke talking sense on Iran. He has a strong position on migration, is not opposed to manufacturing subsidies and is the only Liberal with the nous to talk about policy.

@GrahamY @CampbellNewman The capex on greenfield sites from start to finish is astronomical especially in a union dominated expensive country like ours. Our only saving grace is being the 7th safest country to invest. Capex would disappear overnight with a 25% tax.

Another Teal with Little Red Hen economics. She didn't bake the bread, but now she wants to eat it. That gas wouldn't exist without the foreign markets it was developed to service. The spin-off was a lot more gas development in Queensland and NT, a lot of which is domestic bound.
Australia Institute@TheAusInstitute

"We don't have a gas supply problem. We have a gas export problem." @Nicolette_Boele Australia Institute research shows a 25% tax on gas exports could solve the gas crisis – and raise $17 billion every year at the same time. #auspol

@GrahamY "In 2009, the Queensland Government stated that it “does not support a domestic gas reservation policy” and would rely on a “market-based approach,” on the basis that sufficient gas resources existed to meet both domestic and export demand." ChatGpt from Hansard. FYI.

@GrahamY True to a point. But the idiot Bligh and her incompetent clowns deliberately decided against a domestic gas reservation policy in 2009. It wanted to have it's cake and eat it too. Had it followed WA, we could have had both. Run by second raters? You bet.

So the fuel crisis answer from @AngusTaylorMP and @mattjcan is to stymie the transition to a decarbonised economy and cost the revenue billions to remove the pump price pain so motorists can ignore threatened foreign sourced fuel. Gross irresponsibility.

@AlboMP BS Anthony. The EV subsidised spivs and all those driving company cars with petrol cards are skating through. CBD commuters using heavily subsidised public transport are skating through. The peasants in outer suburbs and rural and regional areas are being smashed. Do something.

@GreenTyler27 @grok how old is the modern public education system and would it be fair to expect at this point the state is quite good at programming a young person's mind with ideology?

@ShackelWill Listen up, Will. Get Gina and Clive to put together a privately funded consortium to build and operate a nuclear plant. As you know, the NEM sets the price. If nuclear is competitive with renewables, good. It can make money at night with no competition from solar. Acta non verba.

When most people open social media, they’re probably not looking to learn about nuclear. Nuclear for Australia has now passed 100,000 followers across platforms, showing that it is possible to engage diverse audience online to support nuclear power. We consistently have millions of views across platforms every month, organically. It’s also yet another sign of the interest from Australians in nuclear. Thank you to everyone who follows us on our journey. This is only the start!

I wonder if Senator Wong told him that invading and seizing the southern half of Lebanon is not a good idea. Do we think?
Gideon Sa'ar | גדעון סער@gidonsaar

Spoke with Australia’s FM @SenatorWong. We discussed at length developments in the war in Iran and Lebanon. I emphasized the massive scale of missile, rocket, and drone attacks against Israel from Lebanon. Israel is acting to defend its communities and citizens. I described the reality of life these days in our northern communities, to which residents returned after over a year in which they didn't live in their homes. Most international media outlets are currently portraying the situation on only one side of the border. Unfortunately, the Lebanese government is not taking practical steps against Hezbollah, neither to stop the attacks on Israeli civilians, nor in other contexts. I welcomed the arrival of Australia’s new ambassador to Israel, Neil Hawkins, and expressed my gratitude for the swift acceptance of the credentials of our ambassador in Canberra, @Hillel_Newman.

@ALeighMP Crikey Andy. The whopping $2b for Boyne Aluminium smelter is not just a throwback, it's back to the future writ large. No productivity improvements, no capital investment, a basket case plant operated by feather bedded union labour. Happy Throwback Day, Andy.
