@lastchalice I think the situation regarding this game shows that you don't need to be like every other game to succeed, if your game is interesting enough to capture an audience. Too many publishers and developers, chase the next big thing. When all you need to do, is have some ambition.

Crimson Desert is shattering expectations…but not in the ways anyone expected. - Massively hyped before launch - Anticipation for high scores - Reviews came in lower than predicted - Sentiment around controls and being bored pushed people away - Those who kept playing found something very rewarding - Patches addressed many crucial issues - Player reception has gone up instrumentally - Sales are already at 3 million Crimson Desert is saying a lot about many things. The conventional wisdom of expectations, games releasing before they’re ready, critics and public perception have all been challenged. These are the types of releases that get me excited as a fan of the industry, whether I’m personally interested in playing the game or not.

@tecmint 12 is a good start, but it definitely needs to be a lot more then that.

@CapnCrust I could run dolphin on my old laptop (i7-11185G7), so if dolphin is giving you performance issues that's honestly a you problem as for compatibility, what games? I've literally never had a game not work on default settings. and if anything needs adjusted, the wiki is fantastic

@GamingSinceNES I always think this. If you don't like a game for whatever reason, then find a different game. There is more then enough of them made to find something that caters to you. But don't expect a game to change around you because you don't like it. Because at that point:

@GamingSinceNES I wish things were that straightforward. But I would say the reason people use tourist as part of the vocabulary is that some people that come into the hobby, don't care for the hobby. They just want things their way, no matter how negatively it affects the hobby long term.

I guess I can't understand the discourse going on with Crimson Desert at the moment and maybe it's because I'm in an intersection of gaming as is. Gaming is my favorite hobby but I've never felt elitist about it. Some games I want a challenge. Some games I want to chill. Some games I play, knowing they're not popular but I still adore them. Some games I play are popular and I'm a fan of some but not others. Yet now there's this weird attack on folk calling them tourists or saying they have poor tastes. Everyone wants to impose their opinions on others but I just can't help but feel if you've been gaming for a long time, you see all of that is just yapping. Gaming is at the most prolific it's ever been and now you have independent folk making the games they always wanted to play as well so we get a little bit of everything. We can't play every game so just focus on what you love and it is what it is. 🤷‍♂️ Right now Crimson Desert is hitting all my checkpoints for games I enjoy and it's a mid 9s game for me but why worry about that if you don't like it. It could be a 3/10 for you and it takes nothing away from my enjoyment and it shouldn't affect you. Maybe it's all for engagement and everyone is performative in some way but I'm just happy I have a game I'm enjoying and that's all you should worry about finding as well as that'll enrich your life instead of... Whatever these attacks are 😔

CRIMSON DESERT is truly one of the worst games I've played. Its open world is terrible with literally NOTHING to do in it besides clearing out bandit camps. Most NPCs are static and just stand around 24/7. Nothing organic happening ever. Garbage missions. 3/10.

Fully agree with Mack. As with books, movies, and comics, the first two hours of a game are critical. If devs can't be bothered to make it interesting, players won't bother with the rest. Still mad I spent 70 bucks on this trash instead of seeing Project Hail Mary.

Lol alex really tried to agenda farm for crismon desert way too soon. "Crimson Desert is going against the grain" Uses A.I has denuvo $70 same open world copy paste formula. The algorithm brings out the laziest worst parts or ourselves.

Problem is, people should investigate a game with a lower score, to see what the issues are. And if it's something that doesn't bother them. And if the game is worth what they are asking.

Man! Games are expensive af! I don’t blame the average Joe/Jane that works a 9-5 using it

Does it matter what game journalist score it? Or people that probably played the game in under two hours just to refund.

A game getting a low score or a fine score somehow demonstrates a game being lesser then higher rated games. From what I've played of Crimson Desert, it's a marmite game. You either like it or don't.

Apparently Crimson Desert has been discovered by a redditor for using Ai in an art piece on the wall. If you look really close, you’ll notice the legs on the horse are a bit off. This is somehow ‘news’ in 2026. My god who tf cares lmfao
