@AlanMCole Why are breweries bad? They are basically the American analogue of European drinking culture. When I was a kid the bars were this mysterious place kids could not go and were surely full of degenerates. I meet people from my neighborhood there I otherwise would not know.

Almost all of these are terrible, and I'll fully admit that. We are genuinely super culturally annoying. But we're the ones holding society together right now as the responsible 30-45 set, and we're also obviously the most computer-literate, so you all have to deal with us.

Sorry but axe throwing, IPAs, and those burger restaurants are a Gen X phenomenon They started in the mid 2010s, millennials still too young to really make up the business owner class. They were the CUSTOMERS, sure, but who do you think was selling it to them?

@the_transit_guy Davis California just voted down a build of 2000 homes in marginal ag land IN BETWEEN two other developments. It’s borderline evil. They are smart university people that make up all sorts of things like “well it’s not affordable housing” while they have million dollar homes.

@sam_d_1995 I get the sentiment - but also shouldn’t you be wary of fundamentally changing a place whose current state results in exclusivity, and in such is able to concentrate a very specific caliber of person? SF has given us so much, why change it? Why not do that in Oakland?
