It’s astonishing that in 2025 a serving MP can stand up and brand a legal political party with over 4 million votes a ‘Nazi’ party without a shred of evidence, and face no sanction whatsoever from @KemiBadenoch the Standards Commissioner, or even his own party whips. Reform UK has policies people can agree or disagree with, but comparing a democratic party that stood in every constituency and came second in dozens of seats to the actual Nazi party – responsible for the Holocaust and the deaths of tens of millions – is grotesque, historically illiterate, and deliberately inflammatory. If a Reform (or Labour, or Lib Dem) MP had called the Conservatives ‘Nazis’ in the chamber, the outrage would be deafening and they’d be suspended within hours. The double standard is glaring. This isn’t about hurt feelings; it’s about the slow erosion of basic decency in public discourse. When mainstream politicians can throw around the word ‘Nazi’ with impunity against rivals who simply want lower immigration and smaller government, it cheapens the term for when real fascists do appear. The fact he’ll get away with it says far more about the state of British politics.
