The fundamental problem with Whoop is that it's hardware where it should've been an app.
Their entire business is based on pictures of athletes wearing it.
Take that away, and you're left with an app that could be vibe-coded by a teenager in a weekend.
(I wear a Whoop, but if I ever need to tighten my budget, it's the first subscription out the window.)

@WHOOP just filed a lawsuit against us. A $10B company with 800+ employees is scared of us, a 20-person team making health tracking accessible to all. Rather than focusing on product and innovation, Whoop has decided to use its newly raised capital on lawfare. In this video, I share our side of the story, explain why their claims are baseless, and why we believe fighting back is the right thing to do.

@alexeheath @fidjissimo Almost sounds like she is angling for workers comp.
English

NEW: OpenAI's @fidjissimo is taking a leave of absence to focus on her health.
From her note to employees that was just shared internally:
"As I shared when I joined, I had a relapse of my neuroimmune condition a few weeks before starting the job. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster since, and the last month has been particularly rough health-wise.
For my entire time here, I’ve postponed medical tests and new therapies to stay completely focused on the job and not miss a single day of work. I took time off for the first time two weeks before the break for some medical tests, and it’s now clear that I’ve pushed a little too far and I really need to try new interventions to stabilize my health.”

when fb acquired whatsapp the deal was ~$19b for ~450m users, so roughly $42 per user.
now question is how does an m&a department value a podcast acquisition? on revenue? ads? users? hosts?
in the near future is it possible you see these types of multiples for only audiences?!
regardless while you’re grinding on building a startup, a *podcast* likely just exited for more than you ever will.

@Stevie_658jjh @anything They have no reason to want to. They just don't want apps in the app store that can generate on device code that changes the apps functionality.
English

@anything lmao the iMessage pivot is actually genius, they literally can't block it without nuking their own platform
English

@picklepopjoe @iamintrospect @cesaralvarezll So not during onboarding then? Thats what I am referring to when I say it doesn't work. Obviously asking after multiple uses would work.
English

@HeyFromPeter @iamintrospect @cesaralvarezll I just tested it today and it worked in the simulated flow so we’ll see. I’m waiting for the user to have at least a week and several uses before I ask. Probably being too conservative
English

Some people question asking for a review during onboarding.
It sounds counterintuitive, but it works you catch users when they’re most excited.
Most people only leave reviews when something goes wrong. If you want positive ones, you have to ask.
This strategy got my iOS app to 59 ratings with 4.7 out of 5.

Really liked this “drag down to lock 2x” interaction introduced by X ✨
Here’s an implementation in @expo ⚡️

@iamintrospect @cesaralvarezll Yeah, pretty sure it doesn't work anymore in iOS 26+. But happy to be proven wrong.
English

@cesaralvarezll Doesn’t Apple not show the prompt to users if they’ve had the app for a short time? The native review prompt is not guaranteed
English

@cesaralvarezll Pretty sure this doesn't work anymore in iOS26. Every app I have seen with ratings during on boarding no longer triggers the popup. I think Apple blocks it from showing up. Have you seen different?

@duncan_byr24197 @GriftReport A 2 bedroom apartment in LA in a decent area is easily $3500 a month. To get a whole condo mortgage for that amount is extremely cheap no matter how you slice it.
English

@GriftReport $3500/month is $42k/year. 30 years is $1.26M.

56-year-old Heather Graham gives a tour of her stunning NYC penthouse, bought right before 9/11 with a shockingly low $3,500 monthly mortgage on a nearly $3million home.
She was due to move in on September 11, 2001 while at the Toronto Film Festival, flights grounded so she stayed in Long Island and finally stepped inside on September 12.
The Boogie Nights star calls it her “peaceful oasis” filled with yoga space, spiritual statues and global decor.
Now she’s just landed a recurring role in White Lotus season four, filming next month in the South of France.

@alaska_gma @muscleforlife She went from training non-stop and eating like 10k calories a day just to maintain, to retiring and having her TDEE drop significantly. Anyone would struggle to adapt to having to eat so fewer calories than they have for their whole adult life. Its not rocket science.
English

@muscleforlife You really don’t think she hasn’t tried that before? She’s an elite athlete with access to the best nutritionists.

Hershey said Wednesday it will use classic recipes for all Reese's products starting next year, a change that comes after the grandson of Reese's founder criticized the company for shifting to cheaper ingredients. cbsn.ws/4dooQWQ

@JustRouzbeh @david_attisaas If thats true, then why are people constantly evangelizing hard paywalls? They seem to be allowed.
English

@HeyFromPeter @david_attisaas I think Apple may reject your app for this kind of paywall
English

disclaimer it won't
soft paywall + trial is a sign you won't make money sir
akash.k.v@akashkv4
My paywall is ready to make money :) 1k MRR Loading..... App launch soon
English

@itzadetunji1 @david_attisaas No. They will just never pay. Almost all paid subscriptions happen on first app open. If you don't get them to pay immediately, most users will not. Even after experiencing the app.
English

@david_attisaas Why don’t soft paywalls work?
Isn’t it great if a user just wants to try out your app and know what they are getting
English

@urko_garmendia @david_attisaas Free trial is still compatible with a hard paywall. But you shouldn't be able to get into the app unless you start a trial or pay. No unpaid freemium experience.
English

@david_attisaas Hard paywall converts much better right? We shouldn’t offer a free trial or a free plan (launching our app soon)
