Jewish Community Relations Council of NY - Tweets and R/T are my own opinions.

The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Custos of the Holy Land report they were blocked from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem by Israeli police on Palm Sunday, calling it "a manifestly unreasonable and grossly disproportionate measure." vaticannews.va/en/church/news…

Yesterday, I had the honor of being invited to join @SpeakerMenin, and some of my @NYCCouncil colleagues at an Interfaith Model Seder to learn about and celebrate the traditions of the upcoming Jewish holiday of #Passover. The event was hosted by @JCRCNY and @UJAfedNY, and held at the TSION café to support the owner who received threats for operating an Ethiopian-Israeli restaurant. Thank you, Beejhy Barhany, for having us at your establishment. And thx to Rabbi Dimitri Elkhurst for leading the seder.

In the midst of the Middle East conflict, American citizens in Israel have been effectively abandoned by @StateDept after it canceled charter flights out of the country and shut off its Crisis Intake form. Now, I’m leading my colleagues to demand @SecRubio resume evacuations and assistance for U.S. citizens in Israel. Failing to assist Americans in their time of need is totally unacceptable.

I’m excited to welcome Nathan Toth back to the @NYCCouncil as Director of our Finance Division. Nathan brings decades of public-sector budgeting experience, and his leadership will be critical as we protect our city’s fiscal health and stability. Join me in congratulating him!

Michael Blake, who is mounting a primary challenge to Rep. Ritchie Torres, praised Joe Kent, who resigned on Tuesday with a conspiratorial statement that lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have characterized as antisemitic. @marcrod97 reports: ji.news/4vdug

New York City is a melting pot of culture—or a baking pan. We loved joining @JCRCNY and Jewish New Yorkers for a celebratory Purim hamantaschen crawl, meeting local businesses and sampling their delicious desserts. May we all find joy, community, and sweetness wherever we can.

Purim, which begins this evening and continues through tomorrow, is a time for our Jewish community to celebrate resilience and joy. Last week, we brought the joy of Purim to City Hall with a hamantaschen tasting in the Rotunda. Chag Purim Sameach!

The University's updated statement, communications.news.columbia.edu/news/universit…, makes clear currently recognized student groups cannot affiliate with the group that calls itself "CUAD."

The group that calls itself “CUAD" is not a recognized student group, or affiliated in any way with the University. There is no evidence that anyone currently in control of their account is a current Columbia student, staff, or faculty member. They are illegally using the Columbia name.
