Religion Is Not Just A Set Of Beliefs, It’s The World’s Most Abused psychological weapon. People twist and weaponize faith to justify everything from politics to outright murder.

@ezoochewqu @magattew @_smashterror_ Friedman was right that bad regulations create rent-seeking. He was wrong if taken to mean corruption disappears without them. Corruption follows power, not paperwork.

@Mind_In_Between @magattew @_smashterror_ The laws create the opportunity to steal. Remove the regulations and there will be no one to bribe to get anything done. This is Milton Friedman's take on the issue by the way.

I've spent my whole life trying to understand why Africa is the poorest region in the world. Low IQ. Malnutrition. Lack of education. Colonialism. Racism. Laziness.  I've heard every explanation. None of them made sense. If it’s colonialism, why was Ethiopia (never colonized) for a long time the poster child for African poverty? Why was Botswana, which was colonized, one of the best performers in Africa? And why is Singapore richer than its former colonizer? If it's lack of education, why are half of African university graduates unemployed? Why were math degrees from Eswatini raising chickens before we hired them to teach at our virtual school? The real answer is something nobody wants to talk about:

@magattew @_smashterror_ This is the kind of take that turns accountability into wordplay. It sounds clever until you realize it quietly shifts blame away from the people actually stealing.

NEW: The U.S. military carried out a lethal strike on a suspected drug-trafficking vessel in the Eastern Pacific. SOUTHCOM confirms "the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations." Two suspected narco-terrorists were killed, according to officials, and no U.S. forces were harmed in the operation.

@RobGeorge Criticize Candace Owens for what she says and does but The moment you reach for old racial tropes, you've already weakened your argument.

Two things can be true: It is entirely acceptable to say Candace Owens is a horrible person, an antisemite and part of the always-grifting right. It is also acceptable to recognize that this mockup is a, yes, vile depiction of Owens — trafficking in classic racist and misogynistic tropes of black women (“USES RICH WHITE MEN!” Nice touch there). I’d say it is below the president of the United States, but that train left the station a long time ago.

It’s Better to Borrow for Infrastructure So That We’ll Have Something to See— Akpabio Backs Tinubu’s $516M Loan Plan Senate President Godswill Akpabio and another lawmaker have backed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s plan to secure fresh loans for infrastructure, describing it as necessary amid current economic challenges. Speaking during deliberations, Akpabio said, “In these difficult times, when we don’t really have money, it is better to borrow for projects… better to borrow for infrastructure so that at the end of the day, we’ll have something to see.” He added that repayment could be tied to the economic value generated by such projects. In a separate contribution, another senator urged the committee on local and foreign debts to fast-track its review and return the proposal for swift approval, citing the urgency of infrastructure development nationwide. The lawmaker also praised the long-anticipated Sokoto–Lagos highway project, noting it had remained on the drawing board for over 55 years but is now becoming a reality. “I have inspected the project and I have seen progress and I’m highly impressed with what I saw,” he said. He explained that the road is being constructed with concrete rather than asphalt and fitted with solar-powered streetlights. According to him, more than 45 kilometers have been completed, with over 250 kilometers passing through Kebbi State and extending across Niger State, Kwara State, Oyo State, Ogun State and Lagos State, starting from Ilela in Sokoto State. Highlighting its impact, he said the highway would significantly reduce travel time, stating, “In less than six hours from Sokoto, you can reach Lagos instead of spending close to about 13 hours.” Both lawmakers urged swift legislative approval once the committee submits its report, describing the project as a transformative development for multiple regions of the country.
