I have been in the energy industry for 16 years now. Let me tell few things about Ethanol. It is a bio-fuel. It saves GHG. Its good for reducing imports (though marginal in long term) & benefits our rural areas. Nobody can't deny it. But dont forget, ethanol has an issue of mileage drop. The chemistry cant be wrong. It has lower HHV. Period. So, the cost of fuel should be LOW. Govt cant stop freebies, so decided to loot middle class in an "Innovative way" to continue to distribute money for free. Not cool. There might be a massive corruption in pushing this fuel prior to targeted year. International lobbying to Ministry. The Govt machineries should not fool us.
