People are still pretending that Alicent Hightower misinterpreted Viserys' final words in a good-faith misunderstanding. Here's why that's totally wrong, and totally laughable:

@sheepsleepdeep @ayumitulipp @elumaxluv Of course she did LMAO, here's the entire interaction with annotations: "I'm sorry. You wanted to know if I believed it to be true." (1) "Aegon." "Our son?" "His Dream." (2) "The Song of Ice... and Fire." (3) "It is true. What he saw in the North." (4) "Prince Aegon?"

Brutal last 10 days for Dems in redistricting: - Callais decision significantly weakens VRA, opening the door for more redraws - TN Republicans pass 9-0 congressional map - LA on track to eliminate at least 1 Dem seat - VA Supreme Court overturns Dems' 10-1 map

@daveweigel This will teach Virginia to hold 40 "elections" each and early year, or something

@JakeSherman We now have to pretend that if a state has 45 days of early voting, it is now conducting 46 elections in one cycle.

@daveweigel A 1.5% win is a "triumph" when a shit ton of people were crossing over to vote against Trump in his own primary, classic.

I’d add that the 2016 primary vote - Sanders building a coalition of progressives and anti-establishment anti-Clinton voters - inspired some hallucinations about a huge left wing electorate out there for the taking. You can look at the 2016 MI primary, a triumph for Sanders. Four years later, turnout was higher, he almost matched his 2016 numbers, and he lost every county to Biden.

This is cope at this point. We've had multiple elections with record turnout and Trump and Republicans outperformed likely voter polling. The nonvoters are conservative.

@CentristMadness That is Platner’s path to victory. 100% attack. Ignore all the attacks on yourself and hammer Collins on gas prices, being a Trump lackey, and being old and senile/dementia

@daveweigel @RichardRubinDC Republicans are selective in their fake outrage over debt and deficits because they know they can get morons like you to be stenographers for them whenever they feel like it.

Interesting how the national debt panic (and the beltway groups that fulminated about it) vanished - even though the total debt has more than doubled since the 2011 debt ceiling wars. Great @RichardRubinDC story, WSJ A1, no discourse! wsj.com/economy/u-s-de…

COLBERT: How dumb do you think it is for people to say that I should run for president? OBAMA: Well, you know, the bar has changed. I think you would perform significantly better than some folks we've seen. COLBERT: Is that an endorsement? OBAMA: It was not

@rachaelmbade You are legitimately one of the absolute most pathetic people in this entire, massive country. Just an absolute embarassment.

Big night for Team Trump. There's been plenty of suggestion that they're losing might and muscle. Tonight they showed (via Indiana) that if you mess with the bull, you'll get the horns. Major flex.

@agraybee The vast networking capability *should* be his unique value and what keeps him alive, otherwise either side could just point a gun at him and demand he give them everything he has.

@agraybee I took it as the sophistication is implicit. Example: he procures a new tank prototype for the First Order, then turns around and procures a new anti-tank technology or resource for the Resistance.

Everything Price Sufferer (but especially eggs)
The most nonsensical part of TLJ was the arms dealer who said he sold to both sides, when there's clearly zero overlap between any of their ships or equipment. It's actually created a plot hole since the first movie, why doesn't the empire search the planets who make the x-wing.

@Brien_Jackson HUH? That narrative choice would have driven the most rabid element of the SW fanbase even more insane. We would have been asked to believe that Palpatine just inexplicably left his former master alive, and just waiting around for the possibility to reclaim his authority.

@Brien_Jackson @CentristMadness Kareem and Jordan never had to deal with something as basic as a zone defense; post-2002 you get a whole lot less mileage out of spamming the same move over and over again, whether it's the skyhook or the midrange jumper.

@Brien_Jackson @CentristMadness Sure, there's also that. And even if that weren't the case, rule changes can play a big part in making certain great players begin to look downright ordinary if they aren't multi-dimensional.

@CentristMadness Another massive factor in increasing parity that largely goes unmentioned was turning the G-League into a legitimate farm system and barrier to entry, which meant the talent required to get to and stay at the Association level was higher than ever before.

@CentristMadness The league literally doubled in size throughout Kareem's career. It added 6 teams *in 6 years* right in the middle of Jordan's career. Meanwhile, the league has stayed the same size for LeBron's entire career.

@ECaliberSeven We just need her to matter-of-factly insist that she's going to win reelection, in the same vein as "I'm voting no," and we've got it in the bag.

In Trump+17 IN-05, State Senator J. D. Ford will be the Dem nominee against Victoria Spartz. VERY tough lift here, but not an impossible one in a blue wave. Worth noting: Spartz isn't taking reelection seriously, raising a pathetic $17K last quarter, vs Ford's 210K.

This quote about how Platner views the role of minority senators as one of activism, to the point of getting arrested on a picket line, is telling of the kind of generational and temperamental divides of the party. Hard to imagine liberal lions of yesteryear making similar vows.
