This occured in NZ and the kid was a bit of an asshole. Liam Ashely was detained for more than just taking his folk's car without permission. He had 9 other charges, amongst them trespassing, burglary, driving without a license, drugs etc. His parents bailed him out 1 or 2 other times before this. They figured they'd teach him tough love by denying him bail and pressing charges for taking the car and let him experience the path he's going down by spending some time in the brig. Then he was dead a day later. The judge said he would've denied bail anyway - but the parents still can't forgive themselves for their part in it. Minor detail, but the man George Baker that killed LIam was a Maori ... not exactly from elsewhere. Here's his folks and here's the George that strangled him. The Maori is still in prison causing trouble.

Chinese living on 3k$ a year had high IQ scores and very low crime rates.
