@itsdaniryan Russia has shown zero restraint. They have been invested in this war 150% from day one. This is the extent of Moscow's power. Russia was never a superpower. It's a Potemkin puppet show. The war has already spilled into the middle east.

The average European, those who don't closely follow geopolitics, are asleep to the risk of the Russia-Ukraine war spilling further into Europe, but the situation is edging closer to that possibility. This is not because of any grand empire-building plan in Moscow, as the tabloid headlines would have you believe, but because this conflict is increasingly obviously functioning as a de facto NATO-Russia confrontation. This was of course always the case, but with recent events, it can really no longer be denied. Russia has so far shown considerable restraint in response to Western involvement and escalation. Are European leaders too comfortable in their assumption that there will be no serious retaliation? Or are they doing their best to provoke one? Dangerous times.

Nolan's "The Odyssey" is a very diverse film - except that it has zero Greeks in it. It has Americans and Brits a plenty, even an odd Canadian and Lebanese, but no Greeks. 10% of the named cast are Latino, and 1 in 6 of the featured characters are portrayed by people of black African background. But no Greeks. It has Koreans and Indians, and there are even representatives of both the Hindu and Sikh faiths. But no Greeks. There are no Greeks in this foundational story of Western civilization bequeathed to us by the Greeks. But 1 out of 3 of the actors in this film are either Jewish or have a Jewish spouse. Manchester is clearly already gone. It's later than what many people think. People over 40 are irrelevant for the demographic future of places. The newest generation is 35% British, so that is the maximum for the future of Manchester, even if (unlikely) mass immigration was fully halted right now.
