@codeopinion Paying for libraries and code creates a dependency that could cause issues. What if the license changes, what if the prices get raised, what if it's abandoned, how do you navigate all that? Open source let's you fork, extend, fix things yourself if required.

I love all the new organic interest in more/better/faster passenger rail in Canada but... Its hasnt been done already here because its objectively hard and has a lot of up front costs. I'm all for stepping up our game, but have no illusions, it will require lots of commitment.

I might need to "manage" my 2yo son, but most public servants are professional adults that should be able to manage themselves. Opinions certainly vary on management approaches.

@NatashaCoteKhan @kingofark Neither. As an IT-04 senior advisor I may be the lead of @gcmobility but I am not allowed to "manage" the team. I pass along "recommendations" on performance management and leave requests to the "signing authority". The best part of this arrangement is that I am more of coach.
