@skooookum They would never admit that these people are holding us hostage. So the advantage of allowing Waymo is that it makes the problems with these groups clear which is good in the long run

I asked a couple their net worth: Julie: "If you include our primary residence, it's in the ballpark of 12 million." Ramit: "Have you ever said that number out loud?" Julie: "No, it makes me really uncomfortable." Ramit: "How would you describe yourself socio-economically?" Julie: "Upper middle class." Tom: "Take out the upper part and you're right." At $12 million, she describes them as "upper middle class." He thinks they're "middle class." Why do you think wealthy people find it so difficult to describe themselves as wealthy?

@soncharm Recycling is the best example of this. It’s objectively worse than landfill, but they can’t possibly stop doing it. If recycling doesn’t work and we keep doing it, to them it must be the fault of manufacturing companies for not making it more viable.

The way you can know that Banning Plastic Bags is a progressive policy is that it makes things more inconvenient. It compels regular people to ‘make a sacrifice’. Therefore, it must be worth doing, one assumes. When you’re progressive you are always on the lookout for things like this - sacrifices to impose on other people, which you assume, without doing any actual analysis of anything, Probably Helps Something Somehow. Then you beam with pride at what a good person you are. Why can’t the complainers just shut up and be a good heckin’ person like you are?
sonch@soncharm

it’s progressive banning stores from giving us convenient ways to carry out the goods we purchased is the most significant progressive reform, and value-add contribution to our lives, that progressives have come up with since back when they told us all to ‘up our mask game’

Instagram growth gurus are so funny. He can’t use his laptop because he’s holding a drink. He can’t drink because he has a cigar in his mouth. He can’t smoke his cigar because both hands are occupied. 😭

@daadaadaadaa @SaladBarFan And as I said it's not a univariate model. A bunch of other shit was going on like Civil Rights unrest, cheap guns, the Drug War, Miranda etc. etc. But a big increase in young men was what made it all have a huge effect. The 60s/70s were a perfect storm swirling shit show.

People voted on whether multiculturalism is working: 5% said yes, 95% said no. Since it’s failing, why the constant push to expand it?

Legs got lit up. Knees felt good so put 5pps and went ass to grass. Focused on slow eccentrics and time under tension through the entire range with no pause at the top. Worked in some Roger’s Squat Pro since the other 2 movements I usually do was taken up.

gaps in relationships: - restaurant gap (going out vs. staying in) - museum gap (do you want wander vs. sprint) - travel gap (need to travel a lot vs. fine with 1-2 trips a year) - money gap (spending heavily vs. stingy) - living gap (city vs. suburb vs. middle of nowhere) - ambition gap (highly driven vs. ok with career not being focal POV) - texting gap (heavy communicator vs. sporadic) - friend gap (big social group vs. 1-2 friends max)

sure NYT I believe that a “restaurant gap relationship” is not only a real thing but that a phenomenon that has only emerged in the past 5-10 years wrought by opportunistic opentable scrapers, private dining clubs, credit card points, concierge services, and nyc’s increasingly competitive restaurant scene is in fact “the ultimate test of compatibility”
