There are certainly many willing who spend 5-7 years with great credentials failing to get admitted into a medical school. If we had more, they’d be less burnt out. They are paid just fine

Take your premises, and beliefs about the physician income in America, and take them to its logical conclusion. You'd consider engineers overpaid too, and that a manual laborer should get paid as much as a doctor of special forces operator. Let's focus on your engineer example though - engineers are extremely important. That doesn't necessarily mean physicians are overpaid though. The education/degree requirements alone say everything - most engineers are cruising with Masters degrees. A physician has to get an MD and then spend years training in residency. Has nothing to do with "being better" - it's just how difficult it is and how much the market values the profession. Even nurses probably make as much as structural engineers on average. And it certainly doesn't mean everyone contributes equally. That's just commie nonsense lmao. Even in Cuba and China which you value highly doctors get paid more than most people. The only difference is that you arbitrarily think doctors here get paid TOO much more. Most doctors here don't even think it's worth it.

American doctors be like: “Don’t you know what it’s like to work OVERTIME! Pay me millions” Literally everyone: “Yeah… we all work a lot and went to grad school and contribute to society in different ways” Doctors: “But, I’m better than you” 🤣🤣🤣

This is why we’ll never get “affordable healthcare” in America. Established, stable non-profit hospital offers $440,000 a year for a doctor and they act like it’s poverty wages. No one’s forcing them to accept but they hate the idea that’s a floor for their earnings.
