@IanCutress This sounds like an exciting step forward, and I think this will be a great role for you with your background, experience, and respect in the industry. And yes, I always hated writing buyer’s guides too 😂

After announcing its latest 200W charging tech, Xiaomi has confirmed it's working on a new 1.21 gigawatt phone charger that can reach 100% before you even plug it in! It's called Time Shift. The catch is you need to be traveling 88 mph.

@IanCutress @RyanSmithAT I’m pretty sure CES took a few years off my lifespan. Still it was always an interesting experience that created lots of memories.

I'm definitely getting less battery life with Apple Watch Series 6 vs. Series 4. Not unexpected with the always-on-display, but now I need 2 short charges per day instead of 1.

@JeffSmith888 @IanCutress @TechnicallyLog1 @andreif7 He also reports overall performance in the time domain, which reflects performance the user would see. You can then compare the competing strategies (IPC vs freq) to see which approach nets the biggest gains.

@IanCutress @TechnicallyLog1 @andreif7 I agree, but what I have to ask in response is, of what value should IPC measurements of strongly contrasting platforms hold to the reader? Particularly for mass market journalism, what insights specifically are you trying to elicit with coverage of that data?

@kid_jenius My issue with UWP has to do with the jarring difference in UI. It makes it feel like you’re using 2 different versions of Windows.

The Windows 10 Photos app takes too long to load, fails to open the image ~50% of the time (opens to blank screen), and suffers from a memory leak. UWP 👎🏻

samsung.com/semiconductor/… "Samsung licensed ARMv8 ISA (Instruction Set Architecture) from ARM Ltd. and designed the micro-architecture including branch prediction unit, fetch, decode, dispatch and execution units to make the best mobile CPU core to date."

My analysis of Intel’s 7nm delay coming soon to SeekingAlpha. Summary: AMD can’t even take market share now, so why would this change if Intel *also* becomes a leading TSMC foundry customer? Who’d TSMC prioritize?

I don’t understand why people are still using this garbage. Even Google doesn't want you to install AnTuTu: flip.it/TM62gM

@handleym99 @headeffects @never_released I agree. Apple said 2 year transition, so I'd assume that’s when we'll see iMac Pro and/or Mac Pro switch. I wonder if we’ll see both Intel and Apple silicon MacBook Pros at same time with smaller model sharing SoC with MacBook Air?

For some reason certain programs are unresponsive while uploading a file to a network drive in Windows Explorer. Made me think back to a time when I couldn’t type in a text editor and play an mp3 file at the same time on my Linux desktop (v2.4).
