@rajsingh2086 @PersianQueen_D @campbellclaret You mean something to do with the CIA-backed coup in 1953, US support for the Shah, the sanctions, the assassination of Soleimani and Trump pulling out of JCOAP? That kind of history?

Have you talked to Pole, a Croatian, a Slovenian or an Estonian lately? Or by Eastern Europe do you mean Hungary? And btw Ari the country you refer to is not England. It’s called the UK. I thought you might have remembered that from when we worked together in Afghanistan and Iraq. Scots Welsh and N Irish fought alongside your people post 9/11 on the one time Article 5 was activated at 🇺🇸 request. Surprised you’re not calling out this Trumpian madness. I suspect your old boss is despite his long term public silence, which I really wish he would. This is not a normal presidency and your country’s reputation is being damaged globally in ways it will take a long time to recover

When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US. France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done - showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.) Wars have unintended consequences as nations show their true colors. NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause.

@PersianQueen_D @campbellclaret No one turned their back on NATO. Are you capable of parsing simple sentences in English? It's members are not required to help the US in an offensive war of its own making.

Maybe you shouldn’t have turned your backs on NATO. You reap what you sow and Western Europe deserves it for being such a coward in the face of the Islamic Republic. As a British Iranian, I support Trump for NATO withdrawal and withdraw my vote and support for Labour and the centre-left, like the majority of Iranians.

@johnsemalhuis @Normanknight27 It was the "deep domestic cuts" that I deemed salient. Essentially, you'll be paying more taxes (to pay for more defense spending) and getting less services. My apologies if that wasn't obvious.

Fake info. All US military bases in Europe are under bilateral agreement ratified in the 50's. Most of them have been amended after 1991. There is absolutely no US territory in Europe. Leaving NATO means leaving all bases within 90 days.
Earle@ceyounger99

I regret to inform you that the U.S. NATO bases in Europe and The UK are the property of the U.S. By denying AIR SPACE access to our own property, the NATO partnership was rendered worthless. I regret that U.S. taxpayers pay protection for oil and gas shipments to UK and Europe.

We should leave ASAP. I want no more of my tax money being spent there and neither should Americans , who are spending enormous amounts of money in an ungrateful Europe. The USSR is gone and Europe keep reminding us how important they are and how they can do without us. We need to honour their wishes. I am sure the communities that rely on the massive NATO bases will get excellent unemployment benefits , although it may be a tough ask when these countries need to start spending massively to accomodate for the US being gone. Oh well...give Vlad a kiss for us....

@VolvicCh @ak_hiker @SaltyGoat17 We can but I believe it will be with boots on the ground and plenty of American casualties as the weak EU looks on and lets us do the dirty work.

“Instead of Iran charging $2M/vessel going through the Strait, the U.S. will charge a $2M escort fee for every vessel, which is about $9B a month or $100B in revenue.” “We will waive that fee for any country that participates in the coalition to open up the Strait.” BRILLIANT!!

@realstewpeters @squeakette3 Rohde was not in the negotiations. Witkoff, who was there, said that the Iranians opened up negotiations by telling them that they could have 11 nuclear warheads in a matter of weeks. A brag that brought down upon their heads what we see today. Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon!

DAVID ROHDE: “Iran offered to give away ALL of its ENRICHED URANIUM during the recent peace talks. Hours later the U.S. started dropping bombs.” Everything we’re being told by the Trump admin is a lie. He’s single-handedly destroying the United States.

@BDHerzinger For the millionth time - asking to fly our plane through France is not the same as asking to send french kids to war. France denied us overflight access just so they can cut a deal with Iran. Same with Spain and Italy. What sort of allies are these?

The Iranians have to be governed by the nerdiest regime of all time. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting an Iranian leader who has written a book on Aristotle, Kant, Farabi, etc. Therefore, in order to foster constructive diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic, the State Department should consider deploying the United States' own emergency Strategic Straussian Reserve of political philosophers. Before engaging Iran on ending the war, re-opening the Strait of Hormuz, signing mutual nonaggression pacts, and examining the future of sanctions, American political philosophers should engage the Iranians on the real issues at stake such as: -Resolving the theological-political question in both Western and Islamic contexts. -Developing a shared textual hermeneutic. -Addressing the connection between instrumental reason, technology, and modernity. We need to speak a language the Iranians understand. We need to transform these negotiations into a graduate seminar. @StateDept @SecRubio

@ak_hiker @SaltyGoat17 The US "rescued" us, because of necessity. Look up Pearl Harbor, when Germany and Italy declared war on you and Operation Drumbeat. With regards to non-US NATO military strenght:
