Public subsidies should reward actual emissions reduction, not merely the presence of a battery in a vehicle. I remain opposed to the inclusion of hybrid vehicles within EV policy frameworks. A vehicle with a tailpipe and continued fossil fuel dependence cannot be equated with a zero-emission vehicle. Blurring that distinction weakens both policy credibility and long-term transition signals. That said, if the government chooses to extend EV-linked incentives to hybrids, anticipating them as transition vehicles, such support should be strictly performance-based. For instance, where a 50% GST concession is granted, the beneficiary should be required to demonstrate that at least 50% of the vehicle’s cumulative kilometers over the ownership period were driven in electric mode, verified through onboard telematics or certified usage data. If this threshold is not met, the proportion of travel undertaken using the internal combustion engine should be subject to deferred tax recovery after a defined period, such as 10 years. indianexpress.com/article/cities… via @IndianExpress

I am against any curtailment on EV uptake and K'taka is really going regressive. Even BJP Ruled State Haryana which is under the Nose of Delhi is charging road tax on EVs. Why are national priorities NOT applicable on Haryana which is charging Tax on EVs for more then a year now.

Wrote to CM @siddaramaiah, urging withdrawal of the lifetime tax on EVs - a regressive move against citizen interests and clean mobility. The current global scenario underscores the urgent need to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. India under PM Modi Ji is committed to achieving Net- Zero, yet Karnataka is discouraging EV adoption - a move contrary to national priorities. While states across India are taking steps to promote electric mobility, Karnataka has imposed this tax - simply to extract ₹250 crore from the people to fund the Bankruptcy of the State. Progressive states like Delhi are offering 100% road tax waivers for electric cars below ₹30 lakh and incentivising electric goods vehicles, while Karnataka under the Congress, is moving in the opposite direction. This is not governance. This is regression. #KhaliTrunkSarkara #CongressFailsKarnataka

🚗 800,361 km. Zero defects. Passed inspection again. In a Tesla Model S. You know… the “toy” that was supposed to die after a few years. 😉 No engine rebuild. No oil changes. No emissions drama. Just… driving. Meanwhile, the internet keeps repeating: ❌ “Batteries die quickly” ❌ “EVs don’t last” ❌ “Not real-world proven” Funny. My car didn’t get the memo. Maybe the real issue isn’t the technology. Maybe it’s that some opinions are just… pre-installed. Curious: Does anyone know a car in Austria with more than 800,000 km on the clock? Left from Kasar with 61% and did a fast 22% topup @BPCLimited in 18min. Reached Gurgaon, 435km with 11% battery to spare. 435km in 72% Soc with ambient temps in plains ~40c. Total trip distance =965km Total charging break: 1st Food break 40min +23% 2nd Opportunity topup +17% in 15min 3rd Over night +36% at Resort 4th 22% in 18min Hence total time charged apart from food /over night = 30mins! Resort charging was not required but did it just becase it was available.

Why is everything about “marketing” and chest thumping for you ? Why can’t we have common goals of zero tailpipe emission mobility ? Why is it always that you will not promote EVs unless a brand sends you the car ? Let’s grow up and have some un-egoistic approach towards cleaner mobility 🤦🏻

Delhi's Draft EV Policy 2026 is largely well-designed. But giving strong hybrids 50% road tax relief is a strategic mistake. A strong hybrid carries ~1.5 kWh of battery. The Tata Punch EV carries 40 kWh. The hybrid still burns fuel every single km. Forever. India just lived through a 40-day Hormuz closure. One of the prime reasons why mAh is stupid when it comes to battery capacity measurement. Whoever thinks a phone's 7,000mAh battery is better than this laptop's 5,360mAh battery needs to be sent to a mental hospital. ALWAYS use Wh.
