No charging! That’s a ₹20 lakh+ car… parked like a normal car…bought 3 months ago. But the society has refused to allow him to install a charger… because he lives on rent. Now imagine this. Instead of simply plugging in at home, he has to search for a public charger. What should have been the biggest advantage of owning an EV… home charging… is completely gone. And this is not a one-off story. Even auto creator Gaurav Yadav recently highlighted similar issues in Gurgaon where societies are denying EV charging access in basements, often citing safety concerns or vague rules. The irony is that India’s own EV guidelines actually encourage installation of private chargers in residential parking spaces to promote adoption. So on one side, the government is pushing EVs. On the other side, societies are quietly blocking them. And the worst part? Renters suffer the most. If you own the flat, you can fight it. If you’re on rent, you’re stuck between landlord, RWA and rules that keep changing. This is the hidden cost of EV ownership in India. Until this mindset changes, EV adoption in cities will always hit a wall.

Delhi: An Army brigadier alleged that he and his son were assaulted by a group of men in front of Delhi Police PCR personnel in the Vasant Vihar area. The incident occurred after he objected to people drinking in a parked vehicle near his residence. Despite calling PCR, he claimed police failed to intervene during the assault or assist afterward. Army brigadier Wife Nitasha says, "The whole incident was that two individuals were sitting in a white Mercedes car and drinking alcohol. After dinner, when my husband and son went out for a walk, they objected, saying that drinking in a residential colony is not allowed, after which the individuals spoke to them inappropriately...."

SHAMEFUL CONDUCT BY DELHI POLICE Last night (11 April), at around 10:00 PM, a serving Brigadier’s family encountered two individuals consuming alcohol inside their car (Regn No. DL3CCY 0789) near their residence in Vasant Enclave. Upon objecting to this act of illegal public drinking, the situation escalated. The individuals called for additional support, and soon 7–8 more men arrived in multiple vehicles. These men proceeded to assault the Brigadier’s son, causing significant injuries, and also manhandled the Brigadier himself. Despite a call to the Police Helpline (112) and a PCR vehicle (ZBR39A, Mobile No. 9311923339) being dispatched to the spot, no effective action was taken by the police personnel present. The assault occurred in full view of the PCR van, yet no intervention was made. Following the incident, the family approached Vasant Vihar Police Station to lodge an FIR. However, their complaint was not registered, and they were also denied immediate medical assistance. Eventually, the injured were taken to the Military Hospital for treatment. A written complaint has since been submitted, but the lack of timely police action—both at the scene and at the police station—raises serious concerns. This incident demands urgent attention and accountability.
