@NotFuji_ Yeah, the comment you deleted here was right, though, and it’s been an issue with trying to organize anything online. People in conflict are often more alike than different. Jocks and nerds are competing for prestige, and so on with niche internet fandoms.

@JWhitebread1 The proper response would have been, “I think you can understand we don’t like your surprises.”

Okay, I think I need to explain something to any Japanese listeners. In American culture, very close friends often express affection through a practice we call "giving grief" or less delicately, "bustin' balls." We insult each other, make inappropriate comments at the other's expense, often at very inappropriate times, etc. It is frankly, one of the surest signs of trust and closeness between equals. We wouldn't do this with someone who WASN'T a very close friend and confidant. You see this more amongst men, and more in informal situations. Admittedly, you don't see it much in professional settings, and it almost never appears in international diplomacy, BUT, Trump is built different. I have no doubt, that's how Trump meant it. It's too on the nose to be anything else. He's trying to say, we respect you and admire you greatly, and we can banter like this, because we are equals. The correct response is to utterly ROAST or insult your friend back in response. This can even evolve into what is called a "game of dozens" which is a friendly contest to see you can insult their friend with the best, most scathing insult. I think I will stop before I have to explain "Your Momma" jokes, but I think you can get the gist. Please feel free to utterly destroy America with a clever insult in response.

@cirsova @jaggerode I wish we'd just annex Israel. I'm tired of their military harming America and never facing court martials for it.

@ChubbyFunsterGC Most games run on the logic of socialist industrialism. Infinitely produced products exchanged for fake money. If real markets were in place, buying the biggest items would be like approaching the speed pf light : eventually, you need all the money in the world.

In countless CRPGs, my character is walking around with more wealth than an Emperor. Seems dumb after a while. The only solutions I’ve seen are unrealistically insane equipment prices and making you in charge of a location that becomes a huge money-sink.

@CRShipp I distinctly remember a war contributing to the formation of the United States, not debates. You can’t even mention a particular debate. So you don’t know history. If you had an ounce of pride, you’d admit you’re wrong. But public debate doesn’t work, so you won’t.

@jaggerode I made no claims that are even slightly wild. Perhaps they're controversial among black-pilled midwits but I don't respect the opinions of people like that.

This is a common and very wrong view I see narrative addicted GMs make. As if me connecting different roll results and player actions to actually make sense is similar to chatgpt meaninglessness. It actually makes player choice matter because what they do becomes integrated into the game world and its history. That's the opposite of what these goobers mean with this argument and it shows they don't understand the opposing position. They would be incapable of restating my position without a moronic strawman. They act like their railroad obsessed method of running high prep games has not been the norm since the mid 80s or so and sandbox or club style gamers are ignorant of their position and arguments. We are very aware. There is nothing prep addicts and narrative addicted GMs can say that we player action driven referees like myself have not heard or even once believed. We've heard it. We don't care. We think your strawman arguments are bad. You are incapable of actually understanding a different view despite your "No wrong way to play" bumper sticker philosophy. So no, low prep player driven club games still have meaningful stories. In fact, they have more meaning to the players involved than your gaslighting the players into thinking they are playing a game when they are actually being tricked to follow a script.

@TheBasicExpert1 Railroading makes players' efforts almost meaningful, sandbox turns master into ChatGPT. I agree, it's a spectrum. Also, Mercer have already explained how they do it, and it's neither. They do have prepared campain, yet players roll and decide in process.

@CRShipp No, you made a wildly fantastic claim. Since when has public debate ever changed anything? Why don’t you back yourself up with facts and logic for once in your miserable life? Pretty easy to always be on the attack, which is why public debate is pointless.

@jaggerode That's just an assertion. If your claim is that there is no value in debating people that disagree publicly, then it's your burden to prove the claim.
