@phool @melanizzzle @LeaveHeardAlone We go out to eat for a treat so we can eat good food, not to be waited on. The servers are employed by the restaurant to serve their food to the customers. Expecting paying customers to also pay the wage of the servers they employed is mind blowing

All the Americans in the comments saying you shouldn’t eat out if you can’t afford to tip 🤣🤣🤣🤣 yous have lost the plot. Eating out already pays for the service, tips are given to those who deserve it not because you’ve done your job 🥴 proper thick country
em🐈‍⬛@Iovelanguge

Expecting over £200 on top of your wages to wait on a table of 4 is absolutely absurd. American tipping culture is genuinely so scary, that £200 is literally a full days pay for most people. Americans need to grow up

@NinaNew791293 @trouble_man90 This recurrent whataboutism drives me absolutely bananas, as evidenced by my actually writing something on the remains of Twitter. "Another person has previously also been bad" is not a valid argument.

I am at a loss for words. Trump is fast asleep at an 11am televised meeting, drooped face, incoherent speech, slurred words?????? This is 10x worse than what Biden did at that debate, and he was literally run out of town for it. And we were forced to trade him for this????

@blinverted @allenanalysis This is a bad faith rhetorical technique called "whataboutism," where you bring up something related but not relevant to change the subject. If the president's poor health is being hidden, that's bad, regardless of whether the last guys did it. Two groups can both do bad things.

Does anyone else get the feeling Trump’s condition is way worse than they’re letting on? Like the people around him know… but they’re just trying to hold the whole thing together.

i wasn’t bothered but my mom did get very annoyed when i was a teenager and said stuff like “i was excised, like a tumor” and “since i was removed instead of born it means i can never die”

Someone replied to one of my comments about c sections saying "imagine being a child and knowing your mom chose that" and I find it hilarious that they think my kids would be remotely bothered at not being born vaginally lmao

@akafaceUS @IlhanMN She did not, if you don't want to read the article. No credible sources, also the story falls apart on basic scrutiny; she and her siblings immigrated together as children, and had and have the same immigration status.

Barack Obama suggested that it might be a good time to buy stocks during a press conference on March 3, 2009. He said, "Profit and earning ratios are starting to reach a point where buying stocks is potentially a good deal if you have a long-term perspective." This remark was made when the stock market was near its lowest point after the 2008 financial crisis, just before a major recovery started.

@elonmusk Yes, this is incitement to violence and reprehensible, but how it's intended is just the dumbest edgelord bullshit. Pretend he's not a massively platformed billionaire; this is what the dumbest edge lord in 9th grade would say.

@elonmusk In twenty years we’ll be using warp drives that will make all of these chemical rockets obsolete. Still cool though. Like when you see horse drawn carriages riding down the street.

The first Starships to Mars will launch in 2 years when the next Earth-Mars transfer window opens. These will be uncrewed to test the reliability of landing intact on Mars. If those landings go well, then the first crewed flights to Mars will be in 4 years. Flight rate will grow exponentially from there, with the goal of building a self-sustaining city in about 20 years. Being multiplanetary will vastly increase the probable lifespan of consciousness, as we will no longer have all our eggs, literally and metabolically, on one planet.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

SpaceX created the first fully reusable rocket stage and, much more importantly, made the reuse economically viable. Making life multiplanetary is fundamentally a cost per ton to Mars problem. It currently costs about a billion dollars per ton of useful payload to the surface of Mars. That needs to be improved to $100k/ton to build a self-sustaining city there, so the technology needs to be 10,000 times better. Extremely difficult, but not impossible.

@elonmusk We don't know what effect a low gravity environment will have on fetal development, not to mention human growth, and there's no ethical way to find out. You're either talking out your ass or proposing a genuine travesty.
