Blackadder: "Criminal record..." Baldrick: "Absolutely not." Blackadder: "Oh come on, Baldrick, you're going to be an MP for god's sake. I'll just put fraud... and sexual... deviancy. Minimum bribe level?"

@katie_dey I know it. Had something similar frequently as a young child. Occasionally happens still, in my 40s. I think I tried to articulate it once but noone knew what I was talking about. Did you find any of it intimidating?

@dysinger I've heard this kind of thing described as performative nihilism? Something like that. "Lol hurting all of us is funny because those guys don't like it roflz"

My resounding lesson of 2025: one person or one country should never have so much power that they can derail centuries of human progress in only a couple of years.

@BpdLion I remember the argument being made when the Hunying ban was first likely to go ahead c25(?) years ago. You'd have thought they'd stopped breeding them by now.

@booberrycat1222 I don't think I'm an outlier in being the kind of driver who *doesn't drive their car into or at obstacles in front of me particularly not human-fuckin-beings*.

Noooooooope. Team Driver all the way. If they don’t have some kind of permit for an event where streets are blocked off (like, eg, a race), bicycles, being vehicles, have to follow normal road rules, just like cars do. This driver isn’t even being negligent here. At the very least, the cyclists can swarm in the normal direction of traffic.

She's at a red light, complaining about a temporary delay because of a social group ride. She gets a green light and chooses to drive into the people riding bikes. 🤦‍♂️ This kind of antisocial behavior should result in loss of driving privileges.

This is why I apologize for EVERY other cyclist. “Let me just drive with my turn signal on for a mile then act shocked when the driver assumes I’m a dumbass who left it on and tries to go around.” Cyclist in the wrong. I apologize for him on behalf of us sane ones (we’re rare).
Cycling For Mind@CyclingForMind

Contains 🤬. One of the scariest experiences I've had in my many kilometers and years of cycling. A look of pure contempt on the driver's face. There are many things I would like to describe them as, but since I've reported it, I'll keep those thoughts to myself.

A single parent with three kids currently gets £20,978 in benefits. Without the two-child cap, it would jump to £24,491 well above what a full-time minimum wage worker takes home - £21,807 (@thetimes). Why work at all if benefits pay more?

@RalphInUEFA @Jenny_1884 She's confusing "easier" with "easy". I don't know why it's such a difficult concept for many. It doesn't mean no-one had it tough then, and doesn't mean everyone has it tougher now. TL; DR - a lack of empathy & an excess of main character syndrome.

It’s amazing the amount of people on here that appear to think pensioners had it easy. When I got married we scraped enough money to put a deposit on a 1 bedroom flat. Everything we had was second hand & clothes were a luxury & waited for Xmas & birthdays. No holidays. Never went out to restaurants as couldn’t afford it so cooked meals from scratch. We lived pay packet to pay packet. So no we didn’t have it easier we just had different priorities, saved up until we could afford to buy something & got on with life with no free handouts.

Hi Iris. It's not about gross pay, it's about net pay. Someone on £105,000 that is a graduate, with kids, lives in London and pays endless taxes to finance the left wing causes you champion doesn't get anywhere near as much in their current account as you think.

@widgetas @lukerobertblack @likesretirement They are probably doing just fine, covering their bills, living where they grew up, raising their kids. It's only when the left turn up wanting to steel their money that we have a problem...

@lukerobertblack @likesretirement All this is sounding very much like the individual in question has made poor life decisions. Isn't that a talking point of "the right"? If you can't afford to live somewhere, move. If you can't afford to have kids, don't have them. If your job doesn't pay enough, get another.

@widgetas Recommended. It doesn't really start until number 13. I like listening to the old news stories, funny to hear AC not think much of the ipad pre-release 😂 Some of the live ones are gold.

@AlexWensleydale I've only ever done one, and it was near the end of the original run. I went back to the start & even at the time it was surprising what was in the news & I'd forgotten. That was 2011? It'd be another world now. Might need to give it a go.
