I do wish there was some scale on this. What exactly is being measured? Different elements would likely be dropping out at slightly different locations.
It is pretty incredible to think that we have nuked one little area of Nevada nearly 1000 times. Additionally, we've blown up a couple of reactors out there as well.

@CodysLab Should probably clarify that the map is estimated dispersion from the Nevada tests based on modelled weather patterns.

@CodysLab It was basically a groundburst so it kicked up a lot of debris.

@CodysLab Seems like more than a quarter of this is…. Farm land?
English

@CodysLab I suspect it’s not actual data, just a simulation (a plume dispersion code) with the same source term in the atmosphere at each test point.
English

@CodysLab What isotope is this, and what's the scale?

@CodysLab @nyanotech Kodak infamously found contamination as far east as Indiana.
English

@CodysLab When was the data gathering taken ?
And how ?
English

@CodysLab Poor St. George, Utah. 'It's safe' -the Government.
What's with the accumulation along the foothills of the Rockies?
English

@CodysLab Welp. Looks like where I grew up was pretty contaminated. I lost several older family members to cancer that was directly attributed to being downwind of that.
English

@CodysLab @SimonStormRider We’re doing pretty well here in Portland. Of course a lot of our rocks make radioactive gas, so….
English

@CodysLab Ok, they _modeled_ the fallout after 94 tests, using historical weather data.
This is not a measurement, but just an estimation.
Thanks to Grownz for providing the source.

@CodysLab Might this explain a lot, or not enough to have an impact?
