Anyone who will lie, cheat, and steal to get power will only be further corrupted by the power they get. They will have absolutely no incentive to do otherwise and reinforcement that it works. They will therefore lie, cheat, and steal from those who supported them, and worse.

That is what every responsible party declares as the basis of its offer to its supporters, meant to attract honest allegiance for the attractiveness of its offer. But those who intend to ignore their constituencies if they take power don't worry about that. Platforms are mere means to seizure. After seizure, lawless license. They cannot govern and they cannot maintain themselves by consent, as a direct result.
