Okay is anyone else's skin burning way faster than normal in the UK right now? It feels like the sun is far more intense... Even my darker skinned friends are saying they are feeling a new intensity to the sun. But it's only like 21 degrees Celsius... It's weird.

Sunglasses do not meaningfully interfere with your body’s sun-protection response. This is a very pseudoscientific claim that sunglasses cause skin burn. Your body’s main “protection signal” comes from UV hitting your skin, not your eyes. Skin exposure to UV triggers Melanin production. Light entering the eyes affects hormones via the brain (circadian rhythms, etc.) But this is not the dominant mechanism for regulating skin protection.

No actual evidence provided by the anti-sunglasses people so far as I can tell. Wild little niche belief system I never knew existed. It's not the sunglasses, been wearing them in all the hot countries over the years in my travels. Why didn't I burn then? Why now not then?

@TheProjectUnity Sunglasses block eye POMC signals that coordinate full-body melanin via MSH. Skin UV triggers only local protection. Without central command, you burn faster despite exposure. Eyes dominate systemic response.

@TheProjectUnity Idk, my little sister, ivory skin just like me, swears that not wearing sunglasses helps keep sunburns away. I can’t test the theory cause I’m a redhead that burns no matter what, but she never seems to burn.

I think if you try getting natural light early in the morning to start your body's natural cycles off properly it is good for you. You really only need 10ish minutes or so to get the effect. It is noticeable. Simply go out first thing when you get up or the sun rises and spend 10 minutes in the sun without shades and you will feel better. Stop doing it and you feel worse. That should be sufficient to tell you it is a benefit.

All I will offer is my personal experience, which is not wearing sunglasses for many years (except in rare situations for safety reasons), getting tons of sun exposure in warm, sunny climates and having no issues with sunburns I can’t prove to what extent, if any, the lack of sunglasses are responsible for this as I engage in a very healthy lifestyle in general, however I do believe it plays a role and don’t foresee wearing sunglasses again in the future

@TheProjectUnity For someone in your industry you're so dismissive of people. Surprised you have a following at all. Pretty narcissistic behaviour. Only you hold the truth.

@TheProjectUnity It isn’t any different in Mexico right now. I figured after that altar sacrifice we might have seen some weather adjustments but 🤷🏼

@TheProjectUnity As a big fan... I have to disagree. I haven't burned one since I stopped wearing sunglasses 😎... 4 years now. No artificial sunscreens either. I am my own evidence

@TheProjectUnity As an Australian, what kind of idiot is claiming sunglasses cause your skin to burn more easily? The only thing that matters is the amount of UV radiation hitting your skin. If you have a tan, you will burn slower.

@TheProjectUnity Buddddy. Don't listen to them. Your work is awesome. People complain when they know they can't offer anything to society. They complain because they know they're worthless and try and make themselves feel better by putting someone down. Your work in Peru got me hooked.
