What happened to Old Dominion QB Quinn Henicle during Wednesday's bowl game is unacceptable. Henicle showed multiple unambiguous signs of concussion — yet he returned to play just MINUTES later. He appeared to be unconscious, but even if he wasn't, a five minute rushed sideline assessment cannot reliably rule out a concussion. Even though some college football players are now paid, they still deserve ethical medical care. Yet it doesn't seem like anyone cares in college football leadership. How do we fix this problem?

In @JasonStahl__'s newsletter, he writes that there are no shortcuts for athlete unionization and collective bargaining. He says that media spectacles of premature "CBA negotiations" without players in the room aren't authentic grassroots movements. jasonstahl.substack.com/p/a-players-un…

College football players recently received a redraft of the EA Sports agreement. They should pause and seek advice from those they trust – compliance, agents, counsel, etc. before signing. This new agreement may conflict with existing marketing, licensing, school, collective, and revenue share agreements that players have already signed, where the players sometimes assign away group licensing rights. EA’s redraft includes: - Removal of the opt-out language, which allowed athletes to opt out of granting their rights for any reason. - Continued use of restrictive termination language that locks in a flat fee ($1,500), with no royalty, over the player’s college career. - Language that supersedes the previous EA agreement that the players have signed.

NEWS: @RepFitzgerald, @Jim_Jordan, @RepRussellFry & @RepSCFigures join a bipartisan coalition to introduce the SCORE Act. Without federal standards, athletes and programs face legal uncertainty and a patchwork of state laws. In coordination with @HouseCommerce & @EdWorkforceCmte, the bill establishes a national NIL framework for college sports. LEARN MORE ↓

Nearly each Big 12 coach told @YahooSports this week that they support employment/collective bargaining. RichRod: "How do you make a half million dollars and aren't an employee?" Our story from last week on the push to bring a CBA to college sports (but it's complicated) 👇
