Just so that you know…if you need a nuclear power plant and you’re a nuclear newcomer country, better call RosAtom. They offer the whole package from construction to training to fuel. Unbeatable financing. The Chinese are good builders but new to the game of exporting. Koreans are decent if you have to go like-minded democracy I won’t name the others because I’ve been told if you can’t say anything nice you shouldn’t say anything at all!

@KtunaxaAmerika @AliceFromQueens @razibkhan Maybe the only guaranteed survivors at this point are BYD, Geely, Xiaomi, and a few others. But many of them will survive as consolidated entities. I'd be surprised if GWM don't at least survive as a merged entity.

@KaiserKuo On the one hand, I'm sure it's refined and classy. On the other hand, I can't wait to have Michelin be replaced by rating system from each indigenous culture, many with far richer culinary tapestry than the West.

@jukan05 More like at 15-30% of price, there are better deals out there. Would still be true for Shanghai and Shenzhen as the comp would be SF and NYC. But HK not so much.

Shenzhen offers hotel quality that’s far better than in the US at half the price, with no tipping. Why is it so cheap here?

@KnowBothSides @AngelicaOung At no point was I talking about contemporary China. It's you who got triggered for no reason to jump in CCP's defense for an insult that doesn't exist and reply w/ deranged nonsequiturs. Perhaps look into the mirror as you are behaving the same way as kneejerk China-bad ppl.

Angelica is going to Istanbul! I'm splurging a little for the non-stop flights from Taipei to Istanbul but I feel like I can justify it because...um the flights would have been thru Dubai and I didn't want the extra excitement. Istanbul will be excitement enough as it is! I have been yearning to visit Türkiye for at least three years, ever since I fell in love with Ottoman history, which is dramatic, entrancing, but also kind of compact you know. 36 sultans continuous in the House of Osman over 600 years. Very different from the unmanagably shaggy Chinese history...but it's also surprising how the same themes and tropes come up. Of course...it's not just for the history I'm going for. I'm also going to be checking out Türkiye's magnificent foods! There will be a lot of elite kebabs in my future. And I hear Ottoman-core recreated palace foods is now a thing. And of course, let's not forget...the cats! But wait! There's more! Actually my trip to Istanbul is just a wrapper for my first-ever visit to the @dalkeybookfest where you will find me on panels on Taiwan, China, nuclear energy and more with luminaries such as @SonyKapoor @ProfPaulBehrens @PerneInAGyre @MkBlyth @janabakunina and @davidmcw! So any mutuals in Istanbul...is there a favorite baklava place you know where we can have Turkish coffee so thicc it violates physics? Let's meet up! And of course...there's still time to pick up tickets to the Dalkey Book Fest for the true lovers of the printed word, and pints! June 16-18 Istanbul Jun 18-22 Dalkey Book Fest! June 22-25 Istanbul Part Deux

Taiwan needs to be taking careful notes right now about how relatively easy it is to shut down a small waterway vital to the commerce of an adversary that desires to attack you, and to gain great leverage while doing so…

@chinafutureclub Could be partly due to regen efficiency. In the Tesla dashboard, the elevation factor to efficiency generally evens out as downhill regen makes up for extra energy on uphill drives. It probably also depends on how aggressively you drive.

Topography and elevation have a big impact on EV range. In the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai where it’s flat, I’m using 11kWh/100km.. In Shanghai it’s 16kWh, Dalian is 21kWh!

@AliceFromQueens @razibkhan A less analogy-based expl. is that China's EV industry is an incredible juggernaut, but partly developed thru brutal competition between automakers (hence design, tech, value, etc.). They are going from explosion to mass consolidation phase, And BYD wins by scale/cost/core tech.

@AliceFromQueens @razibkhan Yep, they are like the Toyota of China. Seen as kinda boring with sometimes ugly designs (still better than the average western automaker), but good value, and dominant because of their scale and cost structure. And will likely fix their design and other issues bcs of that.

@KnowBothSides @AngelicaOung More irrelevant and incoherent gibberish. It's perfectly valid speculation, and not an unfamiliar one to many Chinese historians and revolutionaries, since the warlord era was so chaotic. You keep citing/dropping irrelevant points one after another after challenged, take the L.

@CompleteTuring @AngelicaOung It's meaningless to speculate what if someone was leading China. Turkey and China are 2 very diff countries w diff problems for the leadership. Democracy won't work in China. Speaking of Sun, today's China is closest to his vision. KMT betrayed him by adopting western democracy

@KnowBothSides @AngelicaOung Just let it go if you are going to keep bringing up subjects that are at best tangential to my original point. Both the KMT and CPC regret that it's Yuan Shikai and warlords that took control from Sun Yatsen. So my Ataturk comments isn't that controversial.

@CompleteTuring @AngelicaOung Then India has same pop. Unlike China, there has been no war in Turkey since 1922, no US embargo for 20+ yrs. Ataturk was great leader. Every country has its own, so meaningless to put them in another country.

@AliceFromQueens @razibkhan Just trying to find the easiest analogy for those not familiar w/ the Chinese market And I'm using the positioning of Toyota during its halcyon days. Xiaomi, Aito, Nio, Li, Xpeng, Seres (several), Leap, IM, Zeekr, etc. have better avg design than BYD. But BYD is still dominant.

@KnowBothSides @AngelicaOung With China's size, pop, and other endowments, it should always be much stronger than Turkey. There's also no question that Ataturk was one of the greatest revolutionaries and nation builders of the 20th century. And Turkey was far more developed than China for a long time.
