Good, I’m glad Rowley and the Met did this Polanski runs like a man who’s never played sport or had physical confrontation in his life To lambast coppers for kicking an Islamist armed with a knife, who’d just stabbed people, shows how deeply unserious and inexperienced he is
Metropolitan Police@metpoliceuk

“Apprehending violent and dangerous criminals is a full contact and messy task which may appear shocking to observers with little experience of policing in the real world.” Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley writes to Zack Polanski.

@Sam_Borley @DavidWa28957772 @lauralu13 @Benleo Violent mental health patients wouldn’t be allowed access to knives, the hospital would risk assess that. The police acted with bravery and disarmed someone who was clearly very dangerous.

@Sam_Borley @DavidWa28957772 @lauralu13 @Benleo Mental health patients wouldn’t be brandishing knives would they- and if they did staff would be quite entitled to defend themselves by any means necessary. More so, latest news says this person has a history of stabbing a police officer and his dog multiple times.

The owner of a dog which died after visiting a tulip festival has made a plea for better awareness of the dangers posed to canines by the flower. Jemma Ladwitch said Bobby, her three-year-old springer spaniel, died three hours after visiting Farmer Copley's Tulip Festival in Pontefract on 17 April, and she had not previously been aware the flowers could be fatal to dogs when ingested. Ladwitch said she wanted to warn people of the dangers: "I don't want any dog owners to take that risk again." Robert Copley, Farmer Copleys director, said there was "clear guidance" on the firm's website about keeping dogs on leads, and additional signage about the dangers of tulips had since been installed. "As dog owners ourselves, we understand the loss of a pet", Copley said. Farmer Copleys staff had since been "in dialogue" with Ladwitch, and "our thoughts are very much with her at this difficult time", he added

@paulmasonnews Can the comments get any more idiotic... As normal, all the utterly moronic talking points being recycled... If people hate this, they'd absolutely detest the dozens of square miles of green houses we'd actually need to grow our own food 🤦

Something big happened this week: a judge for the first time used Labour's reforms to Judicial Review to halt time-wasting NIMBY objections to a big solar farm. Process slashed from 24 months to 4. First of many. #BuildBabyBuild

@JessePeltan Sure, but if we invested and built more nuclear facilities (which we have not done) then the nuclear capacity for energy production would increase exponentially … 🤔

@WillRiker1989 @RichardLyon_ @pianomannmusic @JessePeltan The market is not deciding though, the consumer has no choice as the government sets the net zero targets - UK now paying highest energy costs compared to everywhere else in the world . That isn’t a free market or driven by consumer choice.

@ZubyMusic @LisaBritton Because travelling abroad just to find someone is cringey and desperate, and probs mainly done by men who western women won’t put up with or who think they can take advantage of women from poorer counties. It’s ick.

If only there had been a think tank, maybe a Policy Foundation that looked at Global Warming policies. Or a organisation that kept a Watch on Net Zero. Then the BBC could have been better informed, and we wouldn't have got into this mess.

You wait 20 years for the BBC to produce just one news item which is even vaguely critical of the green agenda, and then one comes along all at once. It's almost as if a large part of the BBC workforce is about to be sacked, and the entire corporation has been given some kind of order to produce material that has some kind of relevance to people's lives. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@RichardLyon_ Finally, I will just note that the last time this much CO2 was in the atmosphere was 3 million years ago, when the Earth was 3C hotter than it is now, and camels lived in the Arctic, which was lush, boreal forest. Hippos wallowed in what is now Trafalgar Square. So.

Do you ever look around and wonder why even the liberal world ignores climate change? Well, one part of the answer is surely the fact that banks do not price tipping points.

Quite. Why are drug dealers evil? Because of what they sell. So why is *buying* this evil product decriminalised. ?Makes no sense in law, morality or logic.
Phil L@phil12234

@martinscfc1 @ClarkeMicah What about that? I don't think he is saying not to punish drug dealers, is he? He is saying punish the users too.

The trial of a homosexual couple who adopted a baby boy will begin this month in Preston Crown Court in England. Jamie Varley, aged 36, and John McGowan-Fazakerley, aged 31 stand accused of raping a 13 month old baby to death within 3 months of the child being placed in their care. Varley denies the murder and manslaughter of Preston on 27 July 2023. He has also pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault by penetration, five counts of cruelty and one count of grievous bodily harm. He denies 12 counts of taking an indecent photo of a child, two counts of making an indecent photo of a child and one count of distributing an indecent photo of a child. All the charges, involving still images and videos, relateD to Preston Davey and are alleged to have occurred between March and July 2023. He also denies seven counts of possession of extreme pornography, between 2017 and July 2023. Varley is also jointly charged with McGowan-Fazakerley with one count of the sexual assault of Preston Davey, which he denies. His co-accused pleaded not guilty to the same offence and also denies two counts of cruelty and one count of allowing the death of a child. Judge Altham remanded both men, who lived in Grimsargh, near Preston, into custody ahead of a pre-trial hearing on in January. A police investigation first began after officers were called to Blackpool Victoria Hospital at 19:15 BST on 27 July 2023 after the baby was brought in unresponsive. Preston was pronounced dead a short time later.
