You need to stop using that word.
It’s not a shield to hide behind so criticism can’t be made. Whimsy does not mean a lack of difficulty, it’s a feeling like anything else.
Chibi-Robo is a game full of whimsy and it has many fail states.
If you love the game so much, surely you can come up with a better defense of its design than trying to brush things off with a nonsense statement.
I swear, you guys actually make the perception of the games you claim to enjoy worse.

the fail state for me is how the scene doesn't hit or simply isn't cool if I fuck it up, the fact I didn't encounter any "fail states" on my run of this during my playthrough was what made it such a highlight. gamers in 2026 simply hate whimsy and that's fine but just say so.

Since you want to get pedantic on me...sure I'll bite.
Gamers naturally filtered out pirates when CDPR released Witcher 2 back in 2012. Why? Because CDPR treated their customers with respect, gave them a good product, at a fair price.
So again, the "secret" to minimising the pirate issue was clear enough for everyone to see. Build trust, goodwill, and make great products or services, and the customers will know what to do.

In high school, I tore my ACL playing soccer and was on crutches for 6 months...and got attacked by a loser while sitting out gym class.
School had a stupid rule about how, in any physical fight, both parties had to be punished equally.
When I pointed out that...obviously...the kid on crutches did not start the fight, the Vice Principal scoffed and asked me why I was daring the Question Authority.
School bureaucracy radicalizes many conservatives because its so obviously stupid, actively harmful, and punishing to the victim.
