@spyflynews @owenjonesjourno @GPMobilisation taxing the wealthy to pay for everyone else is the delusion of zero-sum Malthusian dupes. The reality is that if governments back off, lower taxation, and let markets roll free, wealth generation will be democratized. Governments shield corporations from competition.

Wealth taxes in Norway, Spain, Switzerland & Colombia prove the downsides: Norway lost 300+ multimillionaires post-hikes (GDP drag), Spain sees huge avoidance, all four suffer capital flight, sky-high admin costs & low revenue. Punishes entrepreneurs on paper gains & distorts investment. Most countries scrapped them for a reason.

@owenjonesjourno @GPMobilisation I don't want other peoples money, I just want to be able to generate my own with minimal government interference in my business. We need more competition, not more taxes.

@Saltytattoomom taxing particular classes of income earners, particularly, the wealthy, is a bad idea, it results in capital flight and many unintended consequences to the market simple infographic to help those struggling with this concept

Mamdani proposes a pied-à-terre tax, which would essentially double the property tax for those with a second home valued over $5M in the city. This is a false promise. It's a lie. Taxing the rich never works. The government has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. When they use “tax the rich” as an excuse to increase spending, and then the rich leave, they will not scale back spending. Instead, the burden shifts to the middle class, until everyone is equally poor and government corruption thrives. Somehow through all of this, the government officials all get rich. Mamdani is selling a lie. Don't be stupid enough to fall for it.

@ryderkessler “Let’s incentivize everyone who actually pays taxes to leave.” To the productive and rich: y’all welcome here in Texas. There’s a reason 158 financial firms have left wall street for Florida or Texas in the past few years taking all those tax revenues away from NYC.

Let’s tax empty second homes in NYC even if they’re only worth ~ a few million dollars ~ and not just $5M+ And let’s disincentivize keeping homes off the market amid a record low vacancy rate and housing affordability crisis even if the owner’s primary residence is also in NY.

We are spending at least $500 million a day to bomb Iran. Imagine how many teachers we could hire, how many public housing units we could build, how many bridges and roads we could fix, if we spent that kind of money on improving life for working people?

@jacksonhinklle calling China communist is a misnomer, it's a hybrid system just like the USA, albeit a one-party state.

China isn't communist—it's state capitalism with CCP authoritarian control. Mao's pure communism brought famine & stagnation. Deng's 1978 reforms ditched it for private enterprise, foreign investment, markets, & profit motives. Skyscrapers & growth? From capitalist tools, not collective farms. CCP rules politically, but economy runs on competition & billionaires—not Marx.

@JClevemon @MatrixMysteries exactly, there is ZERO, I repeat 0, profit incentive when it comes to government functions. The only incentive that exists is spend as much of the public treasury on things you want "for the community" i.e. your cronies, and make sure you take a fat sack of cash with you.

Is EVERYONE GAMING THE SYSTEM? YES. This is complete BS. This OT scam is happening everywhere.. Call in sick and get your sick pay, your buddy fills in while getting OT. In two weeks, he calls out sick gets his sick pay and the other gets his OT No PRIVATE COMPANY would allow this but because it’s taxpayers’ money, it’s not a problem.

@ZacksJerryRig if you tax the wealthy, they will only find ways to either avoid taxation i.e. expatriation, or they will add additional fees to their products and services i.e. increased consumer costs either way, the people at the bottom will lose if redistribution schemes are attempted
