This is going to get worse before it gets better - it would be great to see a crisis level response to this from our Federal gov't, because that is what we need. Financing is a major challenge. Major. The gov't needs to step up and use all of the mechanisms in its power, through CMHC, to respond to this moment. Slow approvals processes were a problem in the past - today the issue is financing as a result of high interest rates. These projects being cancelled already have planning/zoning approvals. @jen_keesmaat Regular families also speculated on their primary property. They can easily be crippled by the debt yet they took it in hopes of fantastic gains.
