I'm also banned by @lyft in addition to @github now. My human rights are being violated! I'm slowly getting unpersoned every week. Can @LinkedIn do a trade deal with Lyft and Github please, I want out with the LinkedIn Lunatics. I can only assume that I'm caught up in some Chinese spy database because of @PalantirTech. I love you @peterthiel, why are you doing this to me?

Tech bro day 41: Can AI automate my writing? (Part 2 - and no, it can’t. Not yet!) I spent a small portion of this week at Fractal Tech fine-tuning LlaDa, a text diffusion model. I thought I would get better results than my fine-tuned GPT-2 and Llama models, but alas, it was even worse! This is a technical blog post, but maybe the first half should still be readable to a non-technical audience. Tech bro day 40 has now passed. one of my students built this interactive fractal animator (and a bunch of other effects at effectlibrary.vercel.app). it works by animating the fractal based on how I move my mouse.

I find myself drawn to deeply understanding what the code is doing. Claude Code is a fantastic accelerant, even if to ideate and generate code snippets. The rough rule i'd like to set for myself is: "i will write and understand all lines of code"

This was a fun experiment! However, when I wanted to improve something, I would feel stuck. I couldn't see the gears and how they interacted; didn't understand which pieces to add/subtract.

I felt curious and then calm. Doing this project helped pull me out of the future of work/work identity crash out. Looking at it now that it's (mostly) done, there's a sense of peace and appreciation for what I think is a beautiful artifact. For others - I don't think about other people tbh when I share anything these days. But if someone sees it and can relate to it, that's great. Sometimes the super personal is how you get to the universal.

Best Friend Breakup: A Data Story - goodbyefriend.vercel.app On Monday, my former friend broke up with me. We were best friends for over a decade, but I saw it coming. The final text felt like paperwork. Perfunctory. A formal stamp on all the mistakes that were made—but not by me ;) I wanted to honor our years together through reflection. But memory compresses and distorts. So I took our message history and turned it into data. Does the data show the slow death of our friendship? Does it match my memory? The answer: yes and no.

@Shadow_Rebbe Most people ghost. But then people complain about shady indirectness so then people formalize a friend breakup. Idk if I have a preference, if I cut someone off formally it's because of truly egregious behavior.
