I have a question for Colorado sports fans: If the Nuggets go on to win the NBA title, where would it rank among the (then) seven Denver sports championships? There’s no wrong answers, I’m legitimately wondering what u think. We’ll read some responses on air

@byesline You can’t possibly say until it happens, because it depends how it all plays out. The more interesting thought is, the first championship for a franchise has to be the best, right? But I’d argue the Avalanche Stanley Cup win in 2001 was better than 1996.

@byesline Number one. The Nuggets occupy the top spot in my heart, and winning their 1st NBA championship in a small market is much more difficult than winning a Super Bowl or Stanley Cup, IMO. The Nugs got unimaginably lucky with Jokić. A couple other risks paid off & the rest is history.

@byesline Second to first Super Bowl win. Sorry but the NBA will trump the NHL. No disrespect to the Avs intended. Think of this as Colorado's Triple Crown.

@byesline Top 3, easily. I think the Broncos' first SB (The Helicopter) win is #1. Avs in 2001 was incredible... that might be #2.

@byesline This is #1 for me. But that might be because I was only 8 for the first SB win. This has been such a journey for this team.

@byesline 2nd best title after the Broncos first! Because the team has been around so long to go 0-37 in playoff runs, and it really feels like a dynasty in the making with the worlds best player.

@byesline I love football and I love the Broncos more than the rest of the city's teams combined. That being said, with the way the NBA functions and super stars regularly teaming up on the coastal teams, I legitimately never thought I'd live to see the Nuggets host the trophy. It's #1.

@byesline 1. Broncos first Super Bowl. It was a long time coming and Elway finally got his ring. 2. Nuggets. Almost 50 years without even a championship appearance. 3. Avs in 96. Team was new to town, so there wasn’t a long term emotional investment, but still great.

@byesline I think second is the answer. Similar to 97 very few people ever thought a championship would ever happen and both would have had to overcome so much to break through that ceiling. A first championship would mean so much.

@byesline At the bottom. Football and hockey are way more intense. Unpopar opinion perhaps but have Lebron take a good hockey hit or football tackle and they'd be on the ground crying for weeks

@byesline #1. Basketball is beyond any other sport for me and my Nuggets love are beyond any of the other teams in the state as well. To win a championship in a small market as organically and homegrown as they would be doing, nothing could beat that. This core deserves this so much

@byesline It should be high on the list since most fans both young and old are experiencing their first championship with the Nuggets. Not many times you get to celebrate the first championship ever with a sports team

@byesline It would be second to the Broncos upsetting the Packers in Super Bowl 32. Been watching the ABA Rockets and NBA Nuggets for many years. When our TVs had 5-6 channels, you could find the basketball games on KWGN Channel 2. Many great players!

@byesline Yeah tied with the Broncos first SB victory. Perhaps even a bit higher than the Broncos because I wasn’t sure the Nuggets would ever do it, and here we are right on the doorstep. By the way you’re my favorite voice now on Denver radio.

@byesline For me it's 1A next to CU football in 1990. Growing up in the 80s, the Nuggs were always the most accessible pro franchise outside of the Bears & Zephyrs to go to games. They also played on KWGN Channel 2 a lot before moving to cable. The Nuggs are why my family LOVES basketball

@byesline I’d say maybe number 2 after the first Broncos championship. Obviously this is a Broncos town and the previous superbowl misfortune factors in. But the Nuggets are homegrown and in today’s NBA no small feat to build and win this way in a “flyover” city.

@byesline First championship for a team that has a long history in the association. Also bringing Denver to the forefront of sports when the Broncos are in a rut, it's gonna rank pretty damn high.
