@treelinefury @wesbos That's too long. Like I said, you can start with Rancher as a cluster and lean on the web app to better understand the paradigm - failing that, there's Lens, a desktop tool. Make changes observe, then later; start playing with kubectl cli

@Contrafy @MichaelDChaney @adxtyahq It does not have well known / provable bounds at all, that's the issue. For any collection of n elements there is an input data set where the running cost of the sort will be n squared and it will likely overflow your call stack.

NASA writes mission-critical flight software in C. And the rules are absolutely INSANE. > No recursion. Ever. > Every loop must have a provable upper bound. > No dynamic memory allocation after initialization. > Max ~60 lines per function. > Minimum 2 assertions per function. > Every return value must be checked. > Zero compiler warnings allowed. > Daily static analysis. Zero warnings there too. > No function pointers. > Restricted pointer dereferencing. This is how they write code at NASA / JPL for mission-critical systems.

@MichaelDChaney @adxtyahq The paper looks more like consulting guidance than concrete rules to me but idk Stuff like Quicksort has well known/provable bounds though so I’d imagine it falls under the mercy of the second rule?

TIRED: Texas A&M is only undefeated because didn’t have to play the other top teams in the SEC. WIRED: The only way teams can get near the top of the SEC is if they were lucky enough to not play undefeated Texas A&M.

@rs_parasite like i’m agreeing that handle is perfectly fine and current nomenclature but i guess he means like calling it username instead ? or being “hip” and calling it just an @ ? i’m being nitpicky now but denouncing handle gives off millennial with a skewed view of current norms vibe

@Freshman0x Seems clearly the right long term decision- I would bet people are very happy to be driving on the same side as their neighbors - especially since you can drive from Norway and Denmark

My favorite relevant tidbit from the map: Sweden switched from driving on the left to the right in 1967. Overnight, 8 million people woke up driving on the opposite side of the road, kind of a logistics miracle. On September 3, 1967, all traffic stopped at 4:50 am. At exactly 5:00 am, cars carefully moved from the left side of the road to the right. Overnight, crews had swapped out 350,000 road signs and repainted intersections. Buses even had to be retrofitted with new doors to let passengers out on the curb. They had no fatal accidents that day, and accident rates actually dropped sharply in the beginning - motor insurance claims were down by 40%, because everyone drove more cautiously. A year in they were back to the previous level of accidents. Swedes actually voted against the change, resoundingly. In a 1955 referendum, 83% wanted to keep driving on the left. But: most of their cars were already left-hand drive imports, so they were already sort of driving on the wrong side, and all of Sweden’s neighbors were already on the right. So in 1963, they decided to do it anyway.... and had 4 years of advertisements and branding with their pretty awesome logo. It showed up everywhere... even on underwear, and I love the glasses they handed out to remind people! BTW - they never ended up changing the railways so Swedish railways still ride on the left, a quirk.

“Threatened and tried to silence” LMFAOOOO
Brian Harrison@brianeharrison

🚨BOMBSHELL EMAILS: TEXAS A&M THREATENED AND TRIED TO SILENCE CONSERVATIVE STUDENT! Instead of firing the professor who kicked a conservative student out of class... the @TAMU Department Head BLAMED THE STUDENT FOR "DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR"... A&M leadership then appears to have schemed a cover up plan to keep the course going, but to stop the student from ever returning to class... and tried to protect the professor by THREATENING THE STUDENT against the release of undercover videos. In this email, you can see Department Head, Dr. Emily Johansen "(she/her)" pressured the student into accepting a deal to NEVER RETURN TO THE CLASS in exchange for maintaining her current grade. She then cites a "student rule" in a clear attempt to suppress undercover videos that A&M leadership knew about. So, when Texas A&M had the opportunity to protect the student and taxpayers by terminating all programs and employees involved in LGBTQ and DEI activities, courses, or policies over the summer, they chose to threaten the student in hopes this would go away. Now, Texas A&M leadership is misleading about what they knew, when they knew it, and what they did about it. As they keep that up, I'll keep releasing more.
