The reason why I put forward this post is because we have cracked the code for 5 years visa, yes the decision lies with embassy/consulate but we have now processed and applied enough visa applications to tell you that for 5 years visa. 1.) Travel history doesn't matter matter. 2.) You having 2 trips to Japan doesn't matter 3.) 10 lakhs bank balance wouldn't matter. And things get worse for Southern India, the places from where you have max opportunity for getting 5 years Japanese tourist visa is Delhi, Mumbai. We have almost 100% approval rates for 5 years visa with cases where we have identified that this person will get 5 year, and works for Delhi and Mumbai however same profiles won't get it South India.

@Akshat_World @trgowtham Only the duty is reduced! it is still priced as per market rates. As someone mentioned in this thread majority of gold investors don't buy/sell physical gold on a regular basis. Physical Gold itself carries a security concern. Unless there is change in the sgb pricing we're good.

@trgowtham Because there is a lock-in. And, that when the benefits were supposed to be passed off, the price of gold was to made to correct in India by playing with the import duty. On physical gold there is no lock in.

I was probably the only finance guy who discouraged people from owning SGBs. The selling of SGB began roughly in 2015. Now, the bonds have started to mature. And, the government by playing around with the import duty & capital gains, has reduced your returns dramatically. People have been robbed off at least 9-10% of their purchase value of Gold. Not many people see it. If you had physical gold, however, there was no obligation to hold it till maturity. The next big dumb move would be the EPF/PPF. The rates have hardly gone up. While, the inflation has gone up considerably in the economy. These are wealth losing instruments now.

@CreedMgr @DealsDhamaka Well each to their own ! Even if the world does want to abandon the US$, I don’t see it fructifying for another 10 years. Besides which US$ is not going to deteriorate in value - even if some countries opt for another benchmark.

@randombakkwaas @maniasija They ask for a full set of documents and when rejecting they just give you a letter with a generic reason marked. No transparency. They don't even refund visa fees. They humiliate us on pretext of "illegal immigration".

@maniasija This is so demeaning. Give them our money,time and passport. They can't give us the basic dignity of following a time line which might help us plan better. Pathetic.
