@DeviateHulk Weirdly he loved Americans and America, but I think more as a concept. He was both very attuned to them and in denial over the realities. He died before Trump ran for Prez; I often wonder what he would think of all this (since the 80s, he always referred to Trump as a conman)

My dad once said to understand Americans, you need to get that they were birthed in blood - of indigenous peoples, slaves, American citizens, international war. It's all they know, it's their instinct. And no one reflexively as violent as Americans has a moral compass to lose.
